As usual, excellent video. Keep it up, Hugo. Personally, I leave it to my tailor on what color, what fabric and what style. My tailor knows my wardrobe. I only tell him the situation(s) that I am going to be using the suit most and leave the rest to my tailor, who usually comes up with the most thoughtful suggestion. I, obviously, retain the final decision to approve before I sign on the dotted line. And then the months of waiting begins :-).

Fantastic. The aspect of quality tailored clothes that I am most attracted to is the thought and investment that goes into it, making it more than just an article of clothing. As you say the choices you make during this process are a stylistic statement, and I feel like a lot of men today are either afraid to do that, or simply do so unintentionally without being completely conscious of what messages they convey.

Hi Hugo! Thank you so much for your honesty and sharing your wardrobe. You are a great great personal inspiration. I just invested in my first made-to-measure single breasted half-canvas suit. Approx 1000€ in Denmark, as I have limited funds. (Mond of Copenhaguen: portugese produced, Italian fabrics). It is not a high-end tailor, but I think they did a decent job. I got it a week ago, and today I am going to ware it for the first time. Amazing. My question to you Hugo, if you can find the time, is about lapels. I am very happy with the suit, but wary about the lapel. I wonder to what extent 'brakes' on the lapel is acceptable when one sits or moves around. I understand that there will always be a 'brake' if you sit down and haven't opened the jacket(which one should not do, always open when sited I hear), but if the jacket is closed and you move around and there is 'brake' in the lapel, is this normal, or a problem that a 1000€ suit cannot take into account, and only be avoided if one goes bespoke? Or should I ask for refitting? (I am not sure what to call the 'brake', it is like when the lapel does not fall smoothly down, but sometimes 'folds' or 'brakes' or 'spikes outs') Again thank you, may God's blessings be upon you and Sophia!
@SARTORIALTALKS
5 жыл бұрын
Dear KL, I'm not sure what you mean by a "brake". At first I thought you were talking of a small X in the region of the functional button, which is totally acceptable (and even good to have, as this little (but controlled) imperfection adds a little flair to your suits). But after you speak about lapels. So I don't know, but according to what I read, you should definitely go for a refitting. Best of luck ! Hugo
@kristianlykke

Yeah, I'll get a refitting, it's a minor thing. Sorry I can't explain better. It's a beautiful suit, so that's great. Looking forward to the next videos! Thanks for reply! :-D

Good evening Hugo and my dear friends. I would also like to share my personal sartorial journey up to now. A.2013-2014 cheap fused suits from yoox B.2015-2017 suitsupply.i would like to thank suitsupply because they really kind of introduced me to some sartorial details i was missing(canvassed jackets,working buttons). From 2017 the idea of having my first bespoke suit was really growing in my mind,but there was an objective problem:here in Athens there are not many active tailors!i discovered that they presented a product like bespoke,but in fact it was made to measure and costed really a lot.i tried to have a suit with a tailor,but i was a disaster.it really destroyed a wonderfull chalk stripe,royal blue Amadeus dormeuil 365 fabric!that happend in december 2017.after that i was really dissapointed and frustrated,almost really sure that i will never happen!and then out of nowhere i was introduced to my tailor: a master of his craft,but in the same time humble and affordable!!!i have already made 5 suits with him!the first time i wore my first bespoke it was a revelation.i totally relate with what you said about the first time you wear a bespoke:it is impossible to wear a ready to wear suit!since then i have established my personal style:wide peak lapel(11.5-12.5 cm),ticket pocket,lightly padded hacket with roped shoulder,colour thread in the 5 working buttons,,single pleated tapperd trousers with side adjusters!i was thinking of trying a spalla camiccia shoulder in my next suit!thanks for listening my story

@@giannismarkos2097 in that case, I think you should go for something muted for the vest. But it still should be tasteful. If you are like me then you are working with a budget and may need to buy your items piece by piece. I would start with the shoes, then jacket, then the rest of the suit. You mentioned your weight fluctuations, a tailor can add adjustments and even different materials to make you comfortable. A suit is not only to look good but you should feel very comfortable in the suit in every element. How you carry yourself with posture is important also. Again, good shoes will change your life and is the foundation of your wardrobe. Best wishes to you and good luck!

Then I discovered ready-to-wear by Ring Jacket before going full tilt boogie with MTM and bespoke Orazio Luciano, Huntsman, Dalcuore, Cifonelli and most recently Sartoria Yuki Inoue. If you decide to invest consistently $5,000 per year into custom suits, provided you maintain constant weight, you will never wear them out. As you add more of them to your wardrobe, considering they are of very high quality, each suit will get less wear. They will stay with you forever, so you really have to assume a strategic approach to your collection and think it through a bit more thoroughly ahead of time.

Just asking here 🧐 Only because your opinion holds weight. How to pick out or what do you look for in a nice dinner 🍴 jacket. My girl thinks I have awful taste in dinner jackets. Oh if it’s not to much to ask you. Khakis vs chinos , do you prefer one over the other?

Hey Megan, Bolognese construction produces very comfortable and flexible shoes (the technique is called the "sachetto", literally the "bag"), but also more fragile and delicate shoes. The Italian are the best for this specific kind of construction. Testoni, Santoni. Hugo

Hello Hugo! It is wonderful following your sartorial journey. I was wondering if I could have some advice on what will be my 3rd suit. I currently have a navy single breasted, two button, 3-piece suit; a medium grey, single breasted, three-roll-two; and am thinking of adding a more casual looking suit. I would either like to get a light grey wool suit or a linen suit (single or double breasted) with peaked lapels. Any advice (including buy neither and get a double breasted navy chalk-stripe) would be appreciated!
@SARTORIALTALKS
5 жыл бұрын
That's a difficult question, because it depends where you live, if it's a hot climate or not but intuitively I would say go for a summer suit in linen, double or single breasted . It's never to early to have a good summer suit. Hugo

@SARTORIALTALKS
5 жыл бұрын
Bonsoir Damien. Excellente question. Hugo

All are soft shoulder or unstructured shoulder since I have build shoulders and I don't like the structured shoulders. Find your own way and what makes you comfortable and confident.
