This is a Technique shown in the TV SHOW ' Human Weapon' .. The Show Airs Fridays on the HISTORY Channel,. This Episode was Dedicated to Bokator: Cambodian Blood Sport
I actually used this in a fight once and that guy didn`t want anything to do with me after that. I don`t know if it`s because his nose was broken or because my elbow was going 25 mph..

Wow, has anyone who commented here actually been in a fight??! I've studied Muay Thai for nearly 10 years... Elbow strikes OWN at close-range. This is a solid move, if you commit, angle yourself correctly and don't miss, the other guy is going to be asleep before he hits the floor. I doubt the 2nd strike is even necessary. Muay Thai/Muay Boran/Bokator FTW

depending on the style of martial art, and the location of the hit. What makes an elbow dangerous is its like knife that can leave a nasty cut, plus there is less bruising to the elbow (less pain i guess) What makes a right hook dangerous is its mostly directed towards with the jaw or the temple, how ever easier to see coming.

very true, plus elbows, in a real fight elbows are mainly directed at the throat, the temple, and face. Plus its a lot harder to break and elbow than it is a finger in your hand so in terms if its possible an elbow would be the smartest thing to throw plus it doesn't take as much energy as a punch.

by far the best thing to start a fight with and i mean that in a sense of getting the first strike in once you see a situation elevating out of control, what you'll never learn in any martial art is to read a situation and the right time to strike, im a great believer in the pre emptive stike and have done this many times to keep myself out of harms way, so my recommendation is read someones body language and when you feel its time put em out

@GiacomoKnox I think it works on the prospect of your opponent recoiling from the first strike, most people won't be able to react immediately after the first blow, and maximizing the damage. Though granted the first strike is probably going to be the most effective.

@NovaFeenix In order to throw a hadouken in Street Fighter, you must be in battle against another opponent. There is a very simple button combo that you must input to do a hadouken. It is: Down, Down-Forward, Forward + Punch. So, in other words, starting from down, quarter-circle forward + Punch. A light punch will throw a slow hadouken, a medium punch will throw a medium-paced hadouken, and a heavy punch will throw a fast-paced hadouken.

yes other commenters said--->hold his wrist tight(in the beginning in the video)extend your arm not too much or else you break your elbow after the first elbow strike cauze if he does ''fly'' the you hit him with your fist

By reading the comments on the human weapon vids, I became aware that some people don't take martial arts lessons, for self defense, meditation, or self control. But to actually go out and deliver lethal blows to whoever might cross their path.

It only depends on your body resistance to the impact and how you do the hit, done wrong may injure you (in the case of the kick), but in the elbow strike, it will hurt... depends on you how manage the pain ;)

@Jmyster4 You can say that about every other method out there; but once this one makes contact it won't matter, an elbow strike to the face with the full mass of the moving body will leave them so muddled, they won't know mommy from rubber-ducky. It take serious training to be able to dill with this, and very few ever get that training.

My understanding is that you use the bone towards the elbow not in the elbow itself where the "funny bone" is located at (which is really just a nerve around the join connection which is there to help you reflex rather than break your elbow in certain stress situations.)

that's why when your opponents tries to hit you, you must grab his punch and pull him onto you to make the double elbow devastating damage, this moves owns anyone 'cuz the resistance that the elbow offers is more than other parts of the body ;)

@Rocketfing3r Not if you get the twist on your hips, so that your torso is moving in the same direction as your elbow. ofcourse, the bigger your torso the greater this extra momentum will be. (provided the extra mass is muscle and not fat). but in general, even a light person of 50 kilo's turning there body into an elbow, connecting to the tip of the opponents jaw. let's just say the second strike is simply a formality, again, twist back with your torso, don't rely simply on the shoulders. =)

Its best to set up the attack. Combos like a one two punch then you can close the distance as he protects himself or tries to fire back. Once your in distance you have options. You can grab on to his shirt and deliver the blow. Double elbow strike can also be used if they grab on to your shirt and you open up with a double elbow strike because their hands are busy holding on to you. And you can deliver more then just two blows at this point. You can deliver until they let go. Self defense 101.

That's true. The first elbow will daze them, and the second should put them down (maybe...there is a lot of adrenaline in a fight. I've...technically been in one). I guess if you miss, you can always follow up with your left hand. That's what I would do if I noticed my miss fast enough.

@Rocketfing3r Personally, i say do what works. And that means, get your hands dirty. you see it's not always what you attack with, but where you attack. strike to the throat, sides of the neck, underside of the jaw. the groin, the tip of the nose, open palm slap to the ear works pretty damn well too. bearing in mind it can take years to develop a good punch. elbows and low kicks are your most efficient tactics if you are untrained. if you must punch strike to the soft area's as mentioned. ^^

Your elbow can accelerate with a speed of 25 mph. That means that if you follow your elbow for 4 hours, you've travelled from New York to Philadelphia.
@FoxMcCloud2364

@Jmyster4 It's all about speed. If you do it quick enough and without warning, they won't have time to react. Thus no resistence.

@Rocketfing3r In all truth, every technique is performed better with training, even if your training only comes from an understanding of a complete different martial art. But as far as things go when it comes to defending yourself, when untrained, throwing those elbows around (atleast with some timing, not complete panic). is the most efficient someone can hope to be. very forgiving strikes that work well, along the head, neck, jaw, temples, and if you can swing it, to the ear lobe too. =)
