@AceFoxhound sorry i haven't attended any martial arts classes, and i haven't had any experiences in fights except when fooling around with my friends. My impression of tai sabaki from what you tell me, is that you move ur body into the direction of his kicking leg. doesn't this hurt more? >
@180Quickick

@daridp actually this is really easy, u just have to be ready for them to kick to the body, it's not hard to do. i've seen people do this reliably and consistently, do u train for SanDa?
@5milamila

that's why you side step to the right so you don't take the full brunt of that kick (primarily from the shin) and catch the leg as power gets transferred to the kicker's foot

You can grap his head when while he's kicking your leg out and he fall with you, then just launch punches to his head and flip him. You can always try to rotate before he kicks and take him down instead. There are many ways to counter this move if you understand what you're doing.

@SSgtJoker I've been doing martial arts for quite a few years. I did karate and I've been doing Jiu jitsu for I don't even know how long. But I learned this move in Karate but in a different way where sweep there leg from the inside. I've used it a lot in sparring matches and mixed martial art fights a lot. It's probably a good idea to use it if somebody tries kicking you in the ribs. You really learn to anticipate the kick. But I usually throw a punch a long with it.

The most easy way to surprise your opponent in such this situation - where he holds your kicking leg and pulls you towards him - is to simply jump and try to kick him with the other leg. His takedown will fail because you are already in the air and he is so concentrated on his own move and will be so surprised because you yourself gave up your safe stance that he is likely not going to block your kick. Try it its really effective.

THIS is useful for street fughts, often people try and kick when they dont know how to properly and this is devastating.

@Jaygenius Not necessarily... You can still use your arms to block AND grab his leg at the same time... also, if his attack is coming from your left, you can take half a step to the right and let the speed and power of the kick to lower, you can even move towards the attack and intercept it, because an attack in its beginning stage is much slower and weaker than at the later stages... in fact, the only way you will HAVE to take the blow is if you stand still. Intercept or let it pass.

@brenoakiy What I always do is jump, turning my waiste to the left or the right (depends what foot he has grabbed, so when he got my right foot, i turn to the right, and when he got my left foot, I turn to the left), while doing that, I use the foot which is free to kick the side of his head, then break and catch the my fall, and stand up quickly. -jump, turn waist -use foot to kick side of head -catch fall -stand up

the point of these techniques is to do them fast so that the victim doesn't have time to react, u see it slow so that u understand the move, but in combat it's so fast u can't even think about punching the other guy

In the way that Cung Le (famous sanshou and MMA fighter) teaches it, you're meant to block it first with your forearm and then scoop the leg with your other hand. This being said, I think that the producers of 'Human Weapon' have gotten this technique wrong.

@elCommentante just adding a little extra thought is all. i just think it is sometimes good look at things a bit differently, rather than except things as im told by a single source. we often use alot of terms and references without every knowing the meanings or origins. its good to question the accuracy of what we are allowing to become "our knowledge" before just saying roger that and closing the door. i may be a little off the topic but that was a similar point i was trying to make before.

Out of every single taekwondo fight and sparring match I have been in, my kick has been caught by very few people that I can remember, and all of them were instructors. Not saying it can't happen, nor that this technique is invalid but it seems like catching a kick is extremely difficult, especially in the way they show here.

this takedown is very easy but its easy to counter aswell. you can counter by transfering your weight forward towards your opponent when he grabs your foot then grabbing him by the neck and holding on to him and if you get him by surprise u can just take him down by pushing his neck down and he will release your leg. but if he is prepared and you both go down thne you have to throw him up with your hips when on the ground and then mounting him...
@brenoakiy
14 жыл бұрын
yea I've thought in that too, but I think it wouldn't be very effective depending on how he holds your leg...

@Shihabzzz Exactly and hence why most things dont work in MMA There were these two awesome kung fu guys once who both thought they were the best and they had a a fight. One guy did a take down on the other and then go in to side control and did ground and pound to win LOL. the basics, most efficient moves are always best, ones that you can use instinctual.
