I did a lot of research and chose, what I believe is an amazing board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon for my lower body lift, but tell me WHY did it take YOU to explain to me why my incision is reopening?! It’s partial, but it’s the majority of the front with an enormous amount of slough visible. I was never told to pack it, which I was wondering why, since I’ve had a prior surgery incision reopen, and that’s exactly what they did. I’m almost positive that my sugars are high and that’s the culprit for my dehiscence. My A1C has been at a steady 5.0 for a while now, but I’ve been having a lot of ‘cheat’ days since my surgery and I’m sure I’ve spiked my own glucose causing this nightmare to happen - it just looks so scary 😨… but ‘thank you’ SO MUCH for this video, it was more than informative. I think I’m just gonna start packing my own wounds with the gauze and saline, as you mentioned. 🙏🏼 GOD BLESS, GREAT TEACHER!! 😊❤

I realize this is an old video but there isn't much else to be found on wound dehiscence, especially regarding breast lifts. This was very informative. I had a TT and breast reduction w/lift on 5.17.24 and still have wounds under both breasts. Went to the doctor every week and had sutures removed, as they were spitting out of the breasts. Not terrible but they cleaned up the wounds every time I went. It was almost as if I was back to square one each week. And I was told, under no circumstance, was I to put Anything but dry gauze on the wounds. No ointment at all. They said the ointment would push the bacteria into the wound. So much conflicting info. But, I will follow my surgeon's instructions. As of today, one of the wounds looks just as fresh as it did when it opened during week 2. Beyond frustrating. Luckily, TT is healing wonderfully! So, yay for that!

I am in the same boat!! I had my surgery less than a week after you did and I am experiencing almost the exact same thing. I am so scared over this!! You are not alone!

@@RobMelRuby I'm sorry you are going through this too! The only thing the surgeon keeps saying is that I have thin skin - and I'm very fair complected - so that is the only thing he can think that is keeping me from healing. I go back again tomorrow - and Nothing has changed. So frustrated. I purchased some non-stick gauze and it does a really good job of not sticking but from the bra pressing against the gauze, it sticks a tiny bit and pulls the scab off. It's like it's never going to heal. I never would have imagined this to happen...and they definitely don't warn you that healing could take this long. Best of luck with your healing!! :)

@@caseyl2313 my surgeon told me to use saline to rinse it, a silver sulpha cream, and suggested using pads (I bought Always brand). I just cut them in half and they line the bra and don’t stick to anything so they have been comfortable. The whole thing is a MESS!! We will heal though. One day! 🙄💙

@@RobMelRuby So I just returned from my appt. and he didn't pick or poke, just looked and said there has been good progress in the last two weeks - basically, keep doing nothing and he'll see me again in two weeks. I have to admit, the size of the wound was about a quarter two weeks ago and now is more like a nickel or a tad smaller. There is hope, my friend! I've heard about the saline but was too scared to use anything. lol Please let me know how it goes! All the best!

This was good! My sister had a mommy makeover. I'm her caretaker and it is very annoying that the office she went for the surgery doesn't want companions. Even though I'm the one doing all of her wound care. My sister does her best, but she doesn't always pay attention to all of the details and I'm left with questions. Your video helped me understand how to best help with the skin dehiscence.

I have had my I vision partially open also and I was going to my surgeon twice a week so he could clean out some tissue. Now I have graduated to once a week. It has been quite frustrating. Once I got to about 6 weeks out I have been able to stand somewhat straighter. How are you doing now?
