Mike Flanagan cut his teeth as an editor on documentaries and reality tv shows. As good as he is a writer and filmmaker, I'd argue that his editing (he personally edits all his work) is what makes all his projects top notch. Hill House is probably the best example of how much a great editing transition can enhance storytelling.

EDIT: Just finished watching your reactions and the rush of emotion that Roxy had as Maddie is writing what she believes to be her last words is so relatable. It always hits me the same way. It’s a really powerful moment that shows her resolve and her heroism and it always floors me. It’s symphonic and genuinely, gloriously thrilling. I’m so glad you guys enjoyed this one. It plays for keeps, takes no prisoners, and it earns its resolution. Love, love, love this one.

I love that she was the author of Midnight Mass, he loves to weave his films and shows together. Yes he is married to her AND their daughter was named Theodora, after the character she played in Hill House. They are a very down to earth couple who only work with down to earth real actors and actresses, which is why his movies and series have the same cast.

I feel like the title is an intentional contrast to Scream. Story elements are too, like the killer removing his mask early on, and being a fairly straightforward psycho without having a big backstory twist.
@DavidGowers
Жыл бұрын
Others have probably mentioned this, but just in case: Midnight Mass is something Mike had been working on for YEARS before it got made. Even here, in Hush, some of the story elements are in place - particularly some character names - and it was probably pretty close on what he had in the actual Midnight Mass story at the time. It also pops up in book form as an easter egg in his movie adaptation of "Gerald's Game" by Stephen King. Also, Sam Sloyan (the friend who returns her book) is in most of Mike's shows (with the only exception so far being Bly Manor) and of course Kate Seigel is in pretty much EVERYTHING Mike has made with the possible exception of just Before I Wake. This really is such a smart movie, though, for all the reasons you listed. It just shows that Mike Flanagan puts a LOT of thought and effort into what he creates and often subverts, rather than embraces, all the cliches that others go along with.

We saw her life flash before her eyes, she died, and then what we saw after that was her ideal ending. Not saying that’s what happened, just an interesting take on the ending…

So depending on where you go a good tire (1 single tire) will run you about $100-$200. I’ve found cheap tires at Walmart for $80 , any cheaper and you’re looking at used tires but you really don’t want to go cheap on tires. However when you go to a dealership or tire shop you’re not only paying for the tires but for them to be mounted and balanced so that’s how it can get more expensive. If they aren’t balanced that’s where you can get road vibrations or loud road noise. So 100x4+ .8 of an hour for the technician to mount and balance the 4 tires and ya you’re looking at an easy $600-$800 for 4 new tires. Hope you’ve enjoyed a random mechanic rant ❤️

Should have been released in theaters. Reminded me of the classic thriller Wait Until Dark. Ever see that? Audrey Hepburn is a blind woman in New York City and through a chain of events in the prologue come into possession of a child’s doll stuffed with heroin. Three crooks want it and what begins as a hustle gradually evolves into a battle of wits and an intense showdown. Highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed this movie because it creeped me out and usually my dad and I like the same horror/scary movies; but he did not enjoy this one and he thought it was boring. I honestly was very uncomfortable in certain parts because we (women, as I'm thinking if it from my POV) are already at a disadvantage but she has something else piled on top of that. I like how that aspect was integrated into the movie. I also like that we don't get a back story with this guy. He's just some random psychotic murderer who's just out in the woods, killing people for fun. I vaguely remember some sort of discourse because a reactor didn't like this movie or something, he even made a video trying to explainwhich is crazy to me. The only reason I know about that is because one of my other favorite review/ commentary channels, Zzavid, watched this and he does not like home invasion. And his reaction is basically me. Anyway, I can't wait to see what you both have to say about it in the discussions that happen afterwards. Nice, I'm Gonna Git You Sucka reference and when I first put this on my glasses were off and I thought Roxy was wearing a tutu which is incorrect. OH!! AND THE CAT WASNT KILLED!!!!!
