After replacing 10 condensers I finally caught up with the installer . I questioned his procedures and ask about his vacuum pump. He told me he would do a nitrogen purge and a vacuum pump was not needed. He was expert and it was no use explaining anything to him so I continued to make a lot repairs that summer. Nice install and nice instruments you have

Yes but the customer needs to know, the state board need to know as so many fight, argue, advertise, blame, intimidate to be preofessionals. As a customer we don't know which con artist or con tractor we are hiring. Even there are some older contractors who will tell you bad stroies with subcontractors, where they have to pay money to get rid of the sub-contractors. I hate realtors, brokers, but I still need a roof over my head and I still need running water, running heating etc.

Charles, I was a master technician for Chrysler, Cadillac and Subaru. Then made master lead tech for the us largest trucking company working on tractors and Thermo kings and Carriers . $42 per easy hour, plus all the great union benefits. Now I have done a few years workin on low temp units and it is so easy with you’re experience you would think residential ac is for beginners. Ask for some time of in the summer to work with a professional for at least one week before you switch careers. The reason I switched was everything started being to easy for me they eventually made me travel to learn all the new and improved equipment then come back and teach what I had learned to all the shops. The trucking company I worked for only kept all there equipment for 5 years only. Now I’m thinking on going back to school for electrical engineering. Once you learn residential refrigeration especially with you’re background I give you two years before you say is this it, same components go bad, same electrical issue all the time, it’s a routine job. Good luck on you’re Journey

Great video. I just got my universal EPA608 card about a month ago. I'm 32, about to start my career in the HVAC field tomorrow, as a "HVAC installer", for about 11/hour here in the L.A. area. Is there real money to be made in the industry? Should I stick it through to gain the experience then jump to service tech? Idk, just wanted some more info
@stevebrawner9119

+Birdo You can make a great living in this field. I would advise going to a tech school if you haven't already. It takes a long time to become a good service tech with out tech school. You have a couple good schools in your area. I think LA tech school is still open and MT Sac has a excellent school also. A good service tech in your area with 5 to 10 yrs experience can earn 70 to 120k yrly. Also you may want to check the union out. They still have a great union in L.A. Union Journeyman techs make a min. of 34 hrly plus benes. some make a hole lot more if they do market refrigeration or chillers.

Air ductulator sizes return line to eliminate whistle 10feet of flexes friction loss is minimal if installed correctly no sags or pinches in line 7ft. Would be a minimum cut , supply drops the same design to match unit cfm I think he went 8" supply to bedroom ,kitchen , living room ,and 6" for bath ,850 sq. ft. home 1.5 ton unit is spot on.
