To Give you an Idea of LA's sheer size, on a Sunday morning in actual good traffic, it took me three hours to drive from Ventura to Palm Springs via 101-134-210-10, and that was going 65 the whole way, no slowdowns at all, which means I theoretically drove over 200 miles just crossing the metropolis!

Nice! Havent driven 405 yet but its still one of the many freeways I have yet to drive in LA.

LA's freeways are like NYC's subways. LA was among the first to build freeways in the world just as NYC was among the first to construct a subway system. Today these facilities have aged and are outdated in many ways, from a design perspective. And newer, more modern freeways make freeways like I-405 through LA look outright dilapidated and in dire need of an overhaul. Truth is, as crappy and old as the 405 looks, it's been doing a decent job servicing Orange county commuters.

This stretch of the 405 as well as US 101 from downtown to Tampa Ave in the Valley are the most stressful freeways I've ever driven, makes say CA 91 look like a cake walk in comparison

It has the highest density in US, far from the highest population in the world and also far from the largest area. I'm pretty sure Tokyo is the largest metropolitan area both in terms of population and size.

Actually Tokyo is bigger in size it is 845 square miles while LA is 503 square miles. I rounded all decimals. Tokyo metro has a population of more than 35 million while LA metro has population of more than 17 million. Mexico city is 573 square miles and the metro has more than 10 million.

It's usually 9 hrs from El Paso to L.A. My family and I always drive up there because of family so yeah It doesn't take long. I-10 W basically take you all the way over there. Stop once around Phoenix then just keep going. Not much to see from EP to LA

it actually isn't tokyo is about the same size of nyc in size cause there city is in peices it's not a whole city basin cause there surrounded by water.. so tokyo isn't biggest in everything just population but not biggest in city size it ain't that big.. L.A. has a way larger metropilitan area cause it's so spread out,the only one city that competes with L.A.'s size is mexico city D.F. wich is supposibly the biggest city in the world look it up... so in ranks i think L.A. is 2nd after mexico..
