@@ibidu1 unlikely, unless it was originally brought to the Lebanon by one of the US troops stationed over there at the time. But more likely it was sold to the Lebanon by a European used car dealer trading clunkers to the Middle East and Africa for slightly over scrap metal value, and then restored on arrival by using several other cars from the same load as donor vehicles for parts. That trade is still going on to this day, and is quite lucrative (especially as the shipping is dirt cheap to some of the recipient nations, the main income from the shipping run being made transporting fruit and minerals back to Europe.

YES! I am excited! Jared, please, please, PLEASE! Keep the M60 in it, it’s a really good engine! This swap is fairly well documented, and it seems like you’re doing your research. That brake master/booster setup is correct, as it comes factory like that in the same 540i that the engine came from. Sensor in the trunk is the speedometer sensor in the back of the diff as stated above. Other things to note, those bumpers and especially that front lip are VERY valuable. The grilles and headlights are also distinctive to the euro model cars. Analog clock is also a euro car only thing. Doing the 5 lug correct is a smart idea too. Steering rack wise you have a lot of options. Anything E36/Z3/Z4/E46 will work with an off the shelf kit of spacers. Being an early car the conversion is very simple. That toggle switch in the HVAC panel is definitely wrong, the AC/recirc switch should be in that location.

Yes, he owned several in sequence, in fact he owned BMWs for 25 years straight with only one intermission when an employer supplied him with a Saab as a company car (that lasted less than a year before he got a BMW to replace it, that Saab was a nightmare of design and manufacturing defects and spent more time in the shop for warranty repairs than it did on the road, eventually ending up with a cracked cylinder head at less than a year old and less than 75k km on the counter).

I'm guessing that the E30's original color was "Diamond Schwartz" metallic... Same color as my1990 E30 325iX Touring. You can relocate the battery to the trunk, under the gas filling cap, like in the wagons by using an E36 battery-in-boot positive battery cable. There are a lot of good suggestions about using E36 suspension and steering bits. The suggestion about using M3 fenders is a good idea if the tire offset remains outside the stock fenders. The fender flares from an all-wheel-drive E30 iX coupe is more subtle, and less boy racer looking. I am curious about the diff mounted speedo sender... hopefully, the welded diff didn't screw up the timing contacts in differential. KPH speedometers are fun as heck to scare your passengers... saying "look how fast we're going... we are doing 105!" Jared, my sincere hope is that you do not "gut" the car to make it into a "drift car". Your coupe is pretty clean. Un-molested (not trashed) E30s and E36s that are not rust buckets are becoming rarer and harder to find. So many have been crashed, used up, turned into race cars, or rusted away... Ten years from now, we may be looking at them like we look at late 1960's Dodge chargers. With that said, go ahead and make it into a comfortable, fast, good handling, streetable hot rod that you could "gentleman track" on the weekends. You will be able to tell if you have gone "too far" if you chip your teeth or strain your back going over "speed bumps".

Hey Jared, As a fellow beemer who enjoyed many rainy afternoons working on his pieces of j... Fine bavarian automotive creations, here are some facts you already know. But since we are on the internet, I'll say it anyway : - The M60 is pretty much the best V8 BMW has made : no vanos, two timing chains, metal timing tensioners, so no worries here. - It also has Nickasil coating, which is bulletproof but didn't cope well with the fuels available in the US in the 90's. Apparently you have much higher sulfur in your gas. I don't know if gas has changed since or if it only applies to the Regular 87, but lots of M60 engine blocks were changed under warranty because of that. As a fact they switched to Alusil on the M62 (also it has nothing to do with the humungus cost of Nickasil). - You might want to check the oil pump bolts and the tension of its chain. Oil pump bolts are torqued to only 10Nm (basically nothing) and will fall in the oil pan. The chain's play must be 10mm. To adjust it there is an Allen print INSIDE one of the bolts around the oil pump, there are videos available on how to do it. Thankfully you only have to remove the lower oil pan to access all this stuff. I torqued mine hand tight with red Loctite (as you do). - This 6-speed manual is a Getrag 420G, shared with the Maserati Shamal. A crucial information which I'm sure will help you a lot.

I‘m from 🇩🇪 und I’m owning an e30 with M60B40 engine swap too. You can get engine mounts and a lot of other special made parts from a shop in Germany (unfortunately all in German language, let me know if you need the link). Your 5x120 rear hubs are most likely from a e36 323i compact (part no. 33 41 1 095 128), they are 19mm wider per side. You could replace them by e85 Z4 hubs (part no. 33 41 6 752 381) which are just 2.5mm wider. For the front I‘d change back to the original e30 suspension struts. There are 5x120 hubs available with almost the same width as the originals (but you had to update the brakes). There are no gear box mounts from BMW which you could use, you have to make or modify it by your self. The most direct BMW steering racks you can use, are the ones from the e46 facelift models. Z3 racks are great, but difficult to get. E36 racks are having to low steering resistance (in my opinion). With any of these racks, you should lower the front axle 20mm (parts are available). This will compensate the height of the newer racks and make the drive shaft almost perfectly horizontal. Good luck and let me know if you need any translation / support!

This is my absolute favorite car in all of the series. Please please please don’t change the appearance or stance with the wheels, that’s what sets it off for me. I feel like you eluded to a possible wheel change in the video and that would be a shame in my opinion. It just needs some refinement and cleanup and then it’s a bad ass car.

Jared you are so much better than the Car Trek crew, there's so many other cars out there you could be doing.

Im from lebanon and these are pretty much a common swap on E30s the 5 lug conversion is easy because in lebanon E30s E36s are everywhere, now from what i know that the front and back suspension is E36 all of it and if you have a little bit more money they get swapped with E36 M3

I had a E30 318 M tec and I had to work on it weekly to keep it on the road, need to say only put up with it for about 8 to 9 months before going back to the Toyota Corolla AE86

I love that steering wheel. The smallish round center is awesome.

Are those keep fit windows I see? That figures. European BMWs came with seats and doors in the 80’s and absolutely everything else was an optional extra.

As a lebanese. I have to tell you that this bmw is top tier street drift car ultimate budget not so realy budget drift build. And we usualy swap in usually bigger displacement bmw engines because there are more parts available and its cheaper to fix and maintain in comparison to LS or jdm engines

That panel in the trunk is indeed the under dash panel on the driver’s side. There’s a PITA little slot that it needs to slide into on the firewall or it will flop around.
