Ha ha another idea OMG,I'm searching on coastal enviroments.with seasonal or storm creeks,in a Not Gold country, you have more chances than me.Only as sugestion, why dont you prepare traps in the creek? Put some riffles across it,by setting dams and trenches behind, and wait for a storm to see what water delivers

Keep your head up mate, I did over 200 hrs detecting before I found my first little bit. Best advice I can give you is forget fine gold alluvial fields. Research nuggety ground, even if you have to drive 3-4 hrs. Where there was big nuggets, there was way more SDC sized bits, and stick to mullock piles and it won't be long before you get a piece or three. Main thing with the SDC is make sure you understand how to ground balance it properly.

I hired an SDC for my first time out detecting and got 4 little nugs between .07g and .16g all in old mullock piles. I only seem to find rubbish in the bottom of creek beds. Check out Minelab Gold for a great Vic youtuber. All the best mate.

Metal detecting is never pointless considering how conditions in the soil change often with moisture content try the same area wet dry wet dry you will score...remind me of my cousin Luke from Melbourne

Hey mate, like your KZitem stuff. I also have an sdc2300 and have found gold with it. If you ever want to go to the golden triangle and share the expenses and a bit of knowledge, let me know. I’m located in south east suburbs of Melbourne.

hi know the feeling mate i got a minelab monster 1000 been out a few times still no gold to mate , only panning as of this time been getting gold would be nice if could be shown or taken to spots how or were to use it to get some bits ha ha

lose the panning mentality and introduce the detecting mentality - watch some youtube clips of successful detectorists - find a single 1 that detects in creek beds successfully - so detect where the detectable gold is. If you got some small nuggets , bury 1 at various depths and learn what it sounds like at those various depths. Find out how deep a 0.2 nugget can actually be detected. Find out the smallest size nugget that can be detected laying on the surface. How much did you end up paying for your unit ?

Yeah I plan on doing that with the small nuggets. Just can't find my little stash of em atm as I've been moving stuff around lately. It'll turn up soon enough. Then I'll get to testing it that way, as yeah its obviously the way to go about it. Paid $2800

Nothing wrong with detecting the creek beds and gullys, it's where I concentrate most of my detecting, especially when there bone dry, and I clean up every time, low and slow, don't be in a hurry to cover heaps of ground.
