CAN is really simple. You've got a high-speed side two-wire network for priority communication (ECM, TCM, etc.) and a separate two-wire low-speed network for everything else (Body, accessories, HVAC, etc.). Every module hooks onto the two wires, with a terminating circuit at the end of the network string. Everything communicates by broadcasting an identifier string of digital codes that says which module the message code is for, followed by the actual message code, then followed by a message termination code. The physical circuitry is dead simple, it's the digital communication language that's complicated.
@xirabolt
3 жыл бұрын
Jeez, watching this just minutes after finishing playing around with the CAN in my car. After upgrading my radio, half the time the USB times out and it switches to FM. Added a little Arduino so pressing PHONE on the steering wheel switches my input to USB, as well as pressing EJECT turns on the heated seats. CAN is pretty easy to learn.

I have been loking around US classifieds about the Fiat/Seat 600, which was a heavily produced european car back in the late 50s to early 80s era (more than 5.500.000 units sold under the Seat/Fiat brands), and which fits quite well with your style of cars, and I have been amazed to find one for sale, in really bad shape, for about 2500$ in the Seattle area (Craiglist). Good thing about the 600 is than, even if it's really unique there in the US, it's a really common classic car here in Spain (and probably in Italy too), where 10.000 units are still on the road, and there are a lot of replacement parts for it (even interior ones), and some performance parts too (there was a racing Abarth version back in the day). A common swap is with the 903 cc. of the Fiat/SEAT 127 which produces a raging 47 PS It doesn't look that much, but you must understand than the original 600 produced, on his final version (Fiat 600S 1977-83), only 38 PS, and than this car only weights 600 Kg.
