Haven't played in front of people apart from recording engineers and annoyed neighbours for maybe twenty years. Kudos, it sounded great to me

June 2019 was the last time I played live. July 3 2019 I started with a botched surgery. For the next two years I endured two more surgeries. I still haven't played out since. BUT I am getting a kick from your videos.....Keep it up.

I host two open mics in Savannah Georgia, we get alot of seasoned musicians in our community come out. We have a really tight knit group of people. But my greatest pleasure is seeing young or old performing for the first time and giving them a pat on the back n some encouragement, only positive criticism if they ask for it. It brings back memories of when I first started, and as I see them come back and go on to gigging and get better I feel like a proud father.

Very nice! I too played the week before EVERYTHING shut down back in 2020 (at the Rebel Lounge which was just recognized as the best small venue in the world). That was just me on my 1972 beat to hell Yamaha acoustic. My usual open mic rig is two guitars (ones a back up) and my Vox VT 30 and doing pretty much a Billy Bragg style set of usually three songs. So its fun and I miss playing out. Hello from Phoenix!🏜️👍✨

Thank you for taking us on this journey with you! Despite all the little adjustments to Ariel, and time away from the stage, I think once you strummed the first chords you were on your way. So happy you didn't go acoustic. So, thanks for sharing your day with us and i look forward to your next video!

What a wonderful video. I've been telling myself for the last 2 years to go and finally play open mic nights after so long, but I always back out at the end. I'm not exaggerating when I say that seeing you get up there despite the nerves and giving it your all is enormously inspiring and I'm so profoundly grateful. Gonna buckle down on practice and hopefully play that open mic night before the summer's end. Thanks again Nisebelle, you really nailed it!

I started learning a year ago, and while playing in front of a live crowd is far off into the future (far too daunting to even consider rn), I'm glad those who have been playing for awhile get just as nervous as the first time! Love your content :).

You have way more guts than I do by getting up and performing. (mainly as I'm not a good player, and a worse singer - if that's possible) You sounded great btw. Any video that starts with making coffee is an insta-like in my book, although I'm more of an espresso hound. That Sonora estate sounds interesting. VLOG format in the lead up to the performance conveyed your thoughts well, and if a quick setup/tinker at the venue helps settle your nerves, then so be it. One day I may get around to naming my guitars, but I'm not there yet. Is Penelope a baritone? The Martin Backpacker (Nashville?) is very cool too.
@nisebelle
Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I've thought about getting an espresso machine, but I think I might be out of counter space at this point haha. Penelope is actually a bass vi, so similar to a baritone but she has a 30" scale length and is tuned to EADGBE but an octave below a guitar. I haven't quite found the right name for the backpacker yet but I always keep her strung with a Nashville set of strings so I just refer to her as Nashville haha

I haven't played live in literally decades. I never gigged much, mainly jamming with friends / home player with a couple of stints with bands. But as a 50 yr old I am thinking it would be fun to gig occasionally. During covid I decided to do some home recording and invested a bit into that. Due to my schedule, I haven't been able to use (in any real way) some of the gear I've acquired during my home studio stocking phases. I can't think of a better way to waste money.

You've obviously got what it takes for these type of performances, but remember that half of being a singer/songwriter is being a singer and in a live (but amateur) setting your voice is what has the most impact on what your audience experiences. And you have such a lovely voice that it just needed some rehearsal time before the event. Breathing exercises are the most important before a live show. So, being an old "open mic night" guy myself, I would say take along the simplest and most reliable instrument you have available (you made a good choice) and then wow them with those beautiful pipes.

1st show is not easy, when you do it more frequent with songs you know very good, you can start to enjoy it yourself a lot and this whats the feel and then after a while it gets a bit boring , because you know the songs so well and can not hear them anymore and you have to keep up a good feeling to transport the song and the feeling or you write a new songs and start over again.
