Yea, I have it. I was skinny all my life and in my 20-ties my thyroid went wild and I gained a little bit weight. I was able to get rid of it, but not off my legs, arms and lover belly. I'd say it even looks worse when I got back to my weight, because now proportions of my body are weird. Very shitty thing to have, because there's almost nothing you can do about it and it (personally) just annoys me how I look. I used to have very attractive legs - like a runway model I'd dare to say, but now they are just unshaped lumps of fat and I've only 30 y.o. I'm afraid what I'll look like after having babies and/or when my thyroid decide to get off the rails again.

Literally have had it since I was in 4th grade. Hit puberty at 9, started accumulating. I weightlift and so exercise every. Single. Day. to keep my body from getting worse. My waist is 36" but my hips are 51". And what they don't tell you is each subsequent child you have, it gets worse. My hips were 43" with a 34" waist, after 3 kids no matter how much i exercise my hips will not shrink but my waist and breasts do. It sounds "ideal" or whatever. Its not. Its incredibly painful. Making buying clothes impossible. The bruising on my thighs is horrendous. Feels like pins and needles stabbing me if I bump a corner. But, according to US doctors: Youre fat, eat less.

@@t_c5266 Bull crap. I guess you're in the calories in calories out camp. It's not that simple. Fat gain and storage comes down to hormones (something women in particular struggle with). Grelin, cortisol, insulin, etc. all have a role to play in metabolism as does muscle mass (another perk men have over women). Your ignorant comment doesn't explain the condition described here where fat is unnaturally and unevenly deposited on the lower extremities. Absolutely a very low carb diet and fasting work better than "regular" dieting because it lowers insulin, greatly slowing down or stopping the deposit of fat and forcing the body to tap into fat stores in a way that simple calorie cutting doesn't, all without lowering the body's basal metabolic rate (which does happen with calorie restriction).

@@t_c5266 Original comment I was replying to has been DELETED! @tc_c5266 In response to your now deleted comment blaming lipeodema sufferers for “just being fat”: As the video implies, “regular diet/exercise will NOT get rid of lipodema fat”. It’s a medical condition, not normal fat build up. For example, the lipoedema fat apparently has actual fluid inside the fat cells and is harder to burn off than normal fat. One study even showed that even when lipoedema patients with bottom half lipodema starved themselves, all that happened was that the fat was burned off from their top half and remained on the bottom half unchanged! If someone had undiagnosed lipoedema, they absolutely could receive unjustified judgement from a doctor mistaking it for normal weight gain.

There are doctor's lectures here on KZitem about this condition, and one woman with the condition who does workout videos for other folks who have it. This is a real thing, and normal diet and exercise will only do so much since it's not just weight gain, but a connective tissue disorder. There is one doctor who is working on a dietary protocol to help it, but it's a very restrictive diet that goes way beyond just eating healthy and counting calories. It gets really disheartening to try all the suggestions and have people blame you and say you're not being honest when it doesn't work.
