Very charismatic first thoughts, and a fellow gamer thanks to this video I respect you more, I'm a souls fan, at this moment FromSoftware soulsborne games are my favorites, that being said I think your approach is fantastic, you don't demand a easy mode, you recognize and value the game from what it is and as you find fun playing it you created and implemented a strategy to playing it in accord with your own imagination, that's great, this kind of games are very rewarding and ER is fantastic.

Beginner or not that's how you make progress in souls games! And considering the bosses you can make them easy mode by over leveling and using summons. If you don't know yet there is usually a summon sign near the boss from where you can summon a companion to the battle. Also find those weapon upgrades because they also make lots of difference.

you have soo many options on how to play Elden Ring , that you dont have to rely on Blocking or Parrying. 9:40 At the early levels , you will feel much stronger from every level up , this will not be the case throughout the entire game , but when you start getting compfortable in whichever playstyle you want to focus on , you will start getting much much stronger in that playstyle if you keep leveling up the necessary stats. The key for having fun , is to get compfortable with how you want to approach / play the game and get confident in it. Even if you mess up and die , usually not giving up and being persistent , will eventually end in a victory. There may come a time when you loose 20k runes , and you will not even be bothered by it , because the next level up would have cost you 80k runes anyways ... and just a handful of enemies will already net you new 20k runes ^^ Yeah you can ignore Bosses for a super long time and outlevel them by a lot just keep exploring , but do yourself a favor when you eventually end up having to fight a Boss , before you let someone else do it , think of how you could beat it , try to learn how the Boss functions , what movesets / patterns they have , and more importantly , what options your Character Build has access to. There are soo many options in this game on how to trivialize almost every Boss. Cant win in a fair fight? use spells or incantations or a bow/crossbow from afar , use spirit / NPC / player summons , or cheese it with poison or/and rot to death. Soulsborne games (except Sekiro) are all about overcoming the challenge / obstacles by any means necessary imo. A win is a win dosnt matter how you achieved it , as long as you feel good about it. Most importantly though , have fun and enjoy ;)

Don't be afraid of fighting bosses, there are plenty of easy ones in the starting area, especially now that you are level 30. Look in catacombs and ruins in Limgrave. They give you a lot more runes than normal enemies and get you ready for the main bosses.

I’m so glad to hear the game is leaving such an impression on you. Something I will say as advice though, is make sure to be looking out for Smithing Stones and Sombering Smithing Stones depending on your weapon because you can make your weapon stronger too. They’re all over the place. Later on in the game you can even defeat certain bosses so then you’ll unlock the ability to buy those stones. Super important. I’ve been addicted to this game, at 70 hours right now and I still have a lot I want to do. (I die a lot trust me!!!!)

I might pick it up when it's on sale via Steam. It does look beautiful. I don't like the whole "git-gud" culture, and while I have played a lot of hard games over my life, I also vastly prefer selectable difficulty and a pause button. Nice to see you made a vid on it. I'm glad this game is having such success, been a FromSoft fan since Demon's Souls. Funny enough, the open world is one of the few gripes I've with Elden lol. It's a fantastic game, but I doubt I'll replay it nearly as many times as past Souls. It's just too big for that, even if you ignore most optional stuff, getting the needed upgrades is just a bother on new characters.

The open world is the only reason I play the game. I hate boss fights. I played Dark Souls a long time ago and got so frustrated -- it ws the exact opposite of a good time -- that I beat the first boss and THEN rage quit. Not going through that again. Cool for those who enjoy it - -but I still think boss fights are just bad game design that has become institutionalized because devs are too lazy to scale challenge the right way. What's great about Elden Ring is that it allows me to skip the stupid parts.

So glad you did a video on Elden Ring. I really hate dying over and over and am unable to play the so called 'twitchy' games as I have some disability in my hands with very painful arthritis. So for me the are times I have to take a few weeks off gaming completely while I get the swelling under control before I can game again. I play my games on easy and prefer turn based due to the arthritis. My frear with these games becomming so popular is that more and more games will start to take this direction and that I am being phased out of playing games which kind of sucks. Now I admit, I am not really any game developers target demographic being older and disabled. I absolutely love games like Diablo III and Torchlight II as well as Pokemon and Atelier games. And I would have really liked Elden Ring if there was a setting that I could play on but even with your tips I don't think I will attempt it. There are still games I can play and enjoy but I fear my choices will get fewer with the increasing support for games like this. Right now working my way through the end of Immortals Fenyx Rising and finding it quite enjoyable and not too difficult. I also played Zelda BOTW though got a bit bored with it at points. It's a great game but some of the bosses are brutal!

How difficult is it to pick up the parry, block, evade, etc. skills? I really struggle with these kind of skills. Can I play a large portion of the game as a ranged spell caster?

i play as one and never use a shield but evading is still needed. as you play more it becomes easier but every enemy has a different attack pattern so it is necessary to some degree

I never got this game because I always (if I can) play my games on easy and heard this game is very hard with no difficulty settings. But I still want to try it and be prepared to die a lot. Will wait for it to go down in price. Do you like the dancing trees in the wind.

I like games that are moderately hard. I never play on "easy" mode because I enjoy the challenge. If the game is very hard I have to be in the right mood for it. You should be able to beat the game and enjoy the experience.

I agree that music is repetetive end there is no mood change at all... so repetetive. But I like the game in general.

This is absolutely the easiest souls game so far because you can take your time and explore instead of plowing through the main story.

I bought dark souls a while back for nintendo switch, hated it. It still collects dust in my collection so I'm not interested at all in this game

I think I am dreaming but I hope it comes to Gamepass or a trial/demo in some way. As it's too big of a risk to buy for someone who isn't sure about it and also would get annoyed by hard games lol.

I don't get the fascination with Souls games. The combat seems slow dungeon crawler-ish and they have no story.

Souls made an open world game and final fantasy made a souls game. What a weird year.
