It is funny. but I'm also willing to bet Trogly knows more about the Gibson brand than many of the famous players who use(d) them. you gotta give the youngster that. 😊

19:17 The Gibson custom build for Ray Whitley is a pretty important guitar in gibson history. It is basically the first SJ-200. Ray Whitley was a singing cowboy/movie star in the ‘30s . In 1937 He ordered an custom build oversized flattop (the Gibson Custom Build for Ray Whitley). Shortly after this Gibson released the super jumbo 200, basically the same guitar minus the fancy binding and inlay work.

Loved the old vintage guitar calendars! I still have one that I bought brand new back in 1999 and I can't bear to part with it. It has such excellent photographs of so many classic beautiful guitars much like your 1997 version. Also loved the Vox guitars calendar too. Nice to see Trade Tuesday coming back too!

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but the "guy" playing the Ripper bass pictured is Peter Cetera, bassist and along with Terry Kath the vocals for a little band called Chicago....LOL, man I'm old. Good luck with the trading process.

@Trogly, you have "seen" that SG trem before . . . or at least you should have, but it had been removed. The SG you had with a big discolored area that you wanted to put an ebony block over should have had one. I commented on that video about it. It's the Maestro Tremotone

That photo of Clapton is a still from the concert-movie 'Supershow', which featured jams with a lot of great musicians. On this particular photo you see Jack Bruce in the background, Dick Heckstall-Smith and (not in frame) and Jon Hiseman of the band Colosseum (great prog/jazz-rock group of the late 60s). I don't recall who the other sax-player is, the photo says Roland Kirk. The movie also featured Buddy Guy, Buddy Miles, Stephen Stills, Glenn Campbell and the Modern Jazz Quartet, amongst others. It's a great watch!

Lots of pages from old Vintage Guitar Magazines in that first package. They used to be large format with about half coated paper with colored ink and half newsprint. A number of years ago, they reduced the dimensions to "normal" magazine size and got rid of the newsprint portion. Most likely a financial decision. I'm a long time subscriber and had mostly forgotten about the old format. Best guitar magazine out there IMHO.

The Gibson Ray Whitley SJ-200 is ridiculously good looking. Even if I'm not big on country guitars that one resonates with me, just gaudy enough without going too over-the-top.

Lived in Gainesville FL back in 1968 and use to go to Lipham's Music on a regular basis to drool over the music equipment. There was a young man working at Lipham's (Don Felder ...yes the same Don from The Eagles) that felt sorry for me and use to give me product catalogs so I could drool at home too. I had a Gibson, Fender, Kustom, Martin, and etc. Unfortunately ...I let friends borrow the catalogs and they never returned them. I started saving my money to purchase guitar lesson's from Don ...but we ended up moving to VA before the lessons started. Did you know ...Don taught Tom Petty how to play guitar!

I still don’t get it. I’ll buy or trade for your cheap, over inflated items, you make a profit, and you trade up to get something better? For yourself? And we get a cheap Vox calendar? I don’t understand. This feels like a grift to me. What am I getting wrong?
