That was my guys guitar. She is a sleeper. He would show it to folks and their faces changed after hearing it. 😵 So we called her a “sleeper!” anyone would have fun with this guitar. We dominantly have Dimebag style guitars and wanted the Epiphone for something different.. and the series 10 is a project. Already swapped pickup, changed knob and it’s getting a complete paint job. 😉🤘🏻

The “pantera” tour this summer is an abomination to the name. Vinnie would NEVER have gone along with it. It’s the only Eason Phil and Rex are getting away with it. I F’n love me some Pantera, but I wouldn’t waste or encourage that tribute tour, because it’s NOT a reunion by any stretch.

@@TylerJohnstonGuitar worked Rockville ‘16 and had lunch with Vinnie. Total class act and HellYeah was awesome that day. Someone asked that very question and it changed the whole mood at the table. As if all the other guys (Scott Ian, a couple guys from Parkway Drive and Tom Maxwell) knew what was coming now that it was said. Vinnie’s own words ver batim: “There ain’t no Pantera without Dime. Ain’t happening. Never.” Dude had some serious conviction when he said it, as I’m sure he had to make that statement more than once. I just looked at him and said “you’re go****ed right there ain’t” he nodded and we won’t back to the previous conversation but you could tell it still hit him hard.

Hey trogly. I really dig you show man! I've been playing guitar since I was about ten years old. I had my first Les Paul standard in 1974 and have had it's you in my lifetime. Recently purchased a Les Paul Studio from Guitar Center but after living with it for a couple of weeks it wasn't quite there dude. I use the credit from the studio I returned to buy a new Les Paul Standard. Same story, to get home lived with it for a couple of weeks but it wasn't quite right man so I took it back and purchased a PRS S2 McCarty 594 singlecut. That guitar is a keeper. Gibson has really lost touch with quality control in my opinion and I've heard this from fellow Pickers. There's a special place in my heart for Gibson Les Pauls and maybe someday I will find one that is right. I also have a new Fender Ultra Telecaster, and a fender Pro 2 Strat. Both of those were keepers of the gate man. Anyway one thing that bothers me a bit are guitars that are made in China. I understand some people can't afford American, Canadian or even Mexican guitars. As a senior, a n a American Veteran I just don't get it man, geopolitically that is. If I'm correct I believe companies that operate in China are ultimately controlled by the CCP. Just bothers me a little bit man. Not only that it's hard to buy anything that's not made in China anymore. Anyway that's just my opinion. I'm an old fart pushing 70 but I'm still picking and I'm still grinning brother. Keep on keeping on with your KZitem channel and I wish you many good things to come! Peace

So, a music documentary channel I subscribe to did a little vid on the late 80's glam band, "Trixter". Not a fan, however I noticed that in a music video of their's, the guitarist was playing an acoustic "Explorer". It was a "thinline" type body and had the shape of a Gibson headstock, but I couldn't make out the brand. *Anyone have a clue what this guitar was/is?*

If it's the guitar in the "Give it to me good" music video, that's a Kramer/Ferrington EX-1. Not sure if I watched the right documentary, didn't see a Gibson style headstock, tho they are bolt on acoustics so the neck could've been swaped at some point. Hope that helps! Danny Ferrington did some really cool custom builds. Highly reccomend his book. 🙃

I bought the original version of the ML8 new for $499 and it ended up being a great guitar despite being one of the heaviest guitars ever made... They since discontinued it and came out with a new version, but the original version that I have is now selling for big bucks... Funny how there was such a lack of interest in it when it came out, but people realized how good it really was after it was discontinued...

One thing I've always been curious about is how knowledge of the Futura headstock made its way out into the public eye. I know about how it was eventually left on the cutting room floor when the Explorer was ultimately given the Fang / hockey stick headstock. Somehow or other, that petstock shape must have made its way onto public record or info sometime after 1958 for Dean to create the Michael Schenke Signature V with that headstock.

Around 1980ish, I had a Kayler guitar shaped like that. One day a friend of mine stopped by. We were talking and all of a sudden the guitar just fell off the stand and broke the headstock. I jumped up and pretended I was Paul Stanley, smashing the guitar on the floor. Best show I ever put on, but I always wondered what the downstairs neighbor thought.

Salutations Austin! I tend to think of this body style as a Flying Explorer, since it is essentially a cross between a Flying V and an Explorer.
