I found a strip of old conveyor belt bolted to the blade worked good...when it wore out i just cut another strip from that same old belt.

Thanks Ken. Something new to watch. Good job of fixing those emergency cables and exhaust. I don't know and neither does my dog, how you get all this stuff done and then edit these videos. We don't expect new ones every day but when a new one comes out that is what we watch. Thanks again for the go I d clean entertainment. I must be a lot older than you. Crawling around in the snow or rain on the dirt gravel or snow. We've been watching for years now. I was a little braver at 16. I use to watch my dad and brother work on car trucks or motor cycles. My 2nd car was a 49 chevy that had a blown motor. My brother and I went and got a engine hoist then he took off to see how I'd do. Back then I could remember more than now a days. Any way, I found a good v 235 chevy straight 6 and put everything back together the way the old one came apart. That car was tougher than nails. I sure had a lot of fun with it. I only paid 60 for that one and I paid 25 dollars for that good running motor. The guy I got that from was switching from a 6 to a v8. Worked for me. I think my brother left me a good mechanical book and that helped me a lot to get started. I never did worried much about torqueing specs. I had a pretty good sense of how tight to tighten all the different size bolts and screws. Well Ken. The clock just hit 2 am. We'll see you next video. Thanks again for the guitar playing and the singing and the wrenching. If you ever quit wrenching on vehicles you could always build yard art. The stuff I've seen in your yard over the years is under. I know you don't like wiring stuff but I think putting some lights for eys or for a barrel of a gun would be cool. I wish I would have done something like that when I was still working for side money. That giant tall man on your driveway is realy cool. And all the spiders and other stuff. You know, I've heard you say you'd rather be creating something instead of fixing something. But as I've watched you over the years, on your rat rods, you do finish work on them and you see results fast. But I thing what you dont like is finish work like on the red truck because the finish takes to long. Your rat rods got plenty of detail. All right. Take good care Ken.

That nylon cutting edge will work great for your driveway. We used thick rubber one's at the city. Just to avoid damage with manhole covers. Only disadvantage of not having metal is you can't bury your plow to help you in a slide situation. Glad to see you and Noa making progress 🙂👍

Maybe you know this, them brackets on the bottom edge on back of the plow are for shoes so the plow doesn't dig in. They are adjustable to set the highth you want the blade. your shoes are missing. you can buy them at auto parts stores around here. They are cupped shaped and about 6 or 7 inches around. The have a shaft in the middle and slides into them brackets. Dan

It sounds like a SBC should. Hey Waylon, check with your county road department about what type of edge they use on their plow trucks. I bet they change them periodically and you can probably get a used one from them that would be good enough for your truck. Just a thought. Of course once Webb sees the video he will show up with ten of them 😂

Polymer cutting edges cost the most of the three options, but they’re beginning to edge out rubber as a viable replacement for steel due to several advantages. Polymer is rigid for effective scraping, but soft enough that you can still use it on sensitive surfaces. It doesn’t scrape quite as well as a steel edge, but it’s way better than rubber. The other thing about polymer is that, once it’s worn in, the flat cutting edge “self-lubricates” and the edge glides over the surface. Finally, even though it’s softer than steel, a polymer edge will last nearly as long (sometimes just as long), and definitely way longer than even softer rubber. Poly Cons The first knock against a polymer edge is that it’s the most expensive of the bunch. Like any purchase, you’ll have to weigh the benefits against that initial cost. The second is that it won’t scrape as well as steel. The general rule of thumb is the thinner the edge, the better it’s going to scrape. A polymer edge is going to be thicker than a steel edge to make up for the loss of strength. While it will scrape well, in most cases it won’t scrape as well as steel.

A couple of ways to avoid gouging your pavement. 1 put the skid shoes back on. That allows you to adjust blade height. 2 back when I was plowing, s ome guys would run a rubber blade edge. Maybe a tire tread could be the low buck option to try. But I'm not sure you have any old tires to use for that.

In a way its kind of nice watching back to back.... kind of like a story playing out and of course the stories are Thrillers...ha.!! Watched the live stream of you and Noa painting the "Blade Runner" and I got a big kick out of that.... Two kids having fun. BTW.. Blade Runner is my suggestion for a name and she sure sounds nice with the new exhaust. Always loved a good set of glass packs You take care, Ken and keep on having fun and git that MOJO back to where it belongs.... Russ

When i was living in Northern Maine we would get the center of a big truck tire's retread and cut it off from the sidewalls and bolt the tread on at the bottom of the blade all the way across and it would give and take to fit the road shape and last a couple years before it needed replacement.

2wdr crossover pipe on a 4x4 it will get you every time daul exhaust is better anyways. On the plow blade to keep it from damaging the driveway take an old heavy truck tire and cut the center tread area out and bolt it to the leading edge of blade. leave it a few inches below the blade edge works great it's cheap and last for years.
