There is plenty of examples there where people get stuck real bad and the professional won´t be able to help them, there is many variables that could go wrong. French speleologists actually invented a special VLF/ULF radio which works in caves. It's a hassle to use and not a mobile system like walkie talkies, in order to use it you have to pound a metal spike into the rock in order to provide an effective ground or else the radio won't work. So they're only really use for deep underground expeditions and cave rescues, where they form either overnight camps underground or even base stations.
@pieterveenders9793
7 ай бұрын
@@ImpreccablePony Incorrect, normal above ground communication systems won't work in caves, as they use VHF/UHF frequencies, which are unable to penetrate rock. However for caving emergencies and expeditions they use special VLF/ULF radio's with a ground wire which is attached to a metal spike and pounded deep into the soil or rock. Such systems can penetrate as much as several kilometers of rock, and are used by different cave rescue organisations all over Europe.

I'm not saying this to denigrate anyone who enjoys this because it is your experience that you obviously got something positive out of. This is what I will say. These tiny little crevices are not to be considered caves, in my opinion. I don't look at a deer trail in the woods and say it's a road. Or see a spider web and say "there's a house I could live in." Those are caves to insects and small rodents, but not humans. It seems "caving" has become synonymous with this specific type of adrenaline chasing. Caving, to me, is exploring a cave or even abandoned mine that can actually accommodate an upright standing human for more than just a pocket here and there every few hundred yards. These people are adrenaline junkies ("cave junkies" if you will). The term "caving" should be more representative of people who casually delve into their local caves. As opposed to exclusively referring to people with excessive funds and no rational fear response to a space where you have to nearly break your bones to fit through.

Can everyone shut up about these kids? This dad seems very loving and he would risk his life for those kids. It’s not irresponsible. It’s irresponsible if he was careless to them. He isn’t abusing anybody. Just taking his kids for an activity which undoubtedly has dangers, ones that a dad could manage. These kids are probably not going in blind, they’ve probably done other insane stuff.

I have this reoccurring irrational fear when I watch these, of me sliding through a crack and swelling up either while I’m in the crack or not be able to get back through the crack because I’ve swelled

People say what if the kids get injured but think about if the adults are injured...kids alone down there.....sad.

Taking two kids for theirs first time would be a little much and it's hard enough worrying about yourself but your kids and brother!! Wow!! I guess this is a straight shot unlike so many other caves!!

Real cavers are all a bit wacky. Insane tight passage crawls of a hundred feet or so, yup, we have those. Lots of animals in our caves including every kind of creepy crawly, lots of bats and guano piles, deep pools of water, large rooms separated by tiny squeezes. 6 hour trips were minimum with an occasional 36 hour mapping trip. We did it all with carbide lamps back then. I'm too old to cave but I sure loved doing it backk then. Y'all have fun

Not really they crave a certain kind of adventure. They are actually brave unlike losers like you who will never accomplish anything great in his life.

@@theanimehub2180I don't see bravery in trying to squeeze through cave crevices for the sake of squeezing through them, especially with no reward at the end or purpose since the cave has already been mapped out.

“There’s no correlation between rain/surface water and ground water” Are you sure about that? Be safe dude. And yeah rain water definitely affects the water in the caves.

If 1 of you had got completely stuck there is no rescue team that would go down there. You'd starve to death trapped in complete darkness and the batteries would fail.

Compared to climbing which I know is 100 times scarier IRL than it looks on camera, how's this ? Because those squeezes looks ridiculously scary on camera...

Utterly unforgivable taking a child into that nightmare. Its one thing risking your life as an adult but to take a child who has limited understanding of risk into there is child abuse, you deserve a custodial sentence. There is nothing in a cave worth dying for.

I don’t believe that this is an actual fear of yours after seeing you slide into that first pinch like nothing. I wouldn’t have even made it past the entrance.
