Nice overview! Looks like a good quality line. I remember reading an interview/article about SJ very soon after Lost in Translation came out in which she discussed really enjoying playing around with makeup, so perhaps she has plans for more more more! The cleanser texture reminded me of the CosRx Snail cleanser (my favorite) - does it work similarly in your experience? I quite like the aesthetic of the line and appreciate that it’s not recycled ingredients. Oh I meant to comment in your community poll that I was wondering if you’d considered Regimen Labs as a future trial. I’ve been using their stuff for a few weeks and quite like their branding/approach. I’m too inconsistent between all my skincare to ascribe changes to one particular product, but I’ve enjoyed them. I can definitely see myself trying the serum in the future. Not sure about the cleanser because of the lemon water and the orange water, im still figuring out if my skin has issues with citrus type ingredients in products. The moisturizer I don't think I will try because I have dryer skin then the next person and don't feel that would help it all. Yet I haven't tried it so I can't truly say, that's why those mini kits are always a nice option, just in case I change my mind.

Great review! Gaaaah I can't believe I am actually considering a serum from a celeb brand but it sounds interesting-especially since HA can increase the chance of irritation when used in the same routine with tret, so I am always on the lookout for great HA-free essences/toners/serums to use in my tret routine (and niacinamide tbh since I already get a good dose from stratia liquid gold). I guess like with Fenty and Rare Beauty in the makeup realm, it is possible for a celeb to get the right team to contribute something noteworthy to the skincare market.

Haha yep, Fenty and Rare were the brands I mentioned specifically in my original thoughts of the Outset! I think it can be done, but the brand itself has to focus on what the community wants vs their own personal preferences. That seems to be the trick that both Rare and Fenty figured out

I bought the sample pack. I really like serum. I wanted something hydrating that wasn’t my basic hylouronic acid. I’m not sure if I love the daily moisturizer. I have less dry skin than you, so it works out okay on its own. I still like the laneige more, but i haven’t gotten to the jar of the reformulated version yet. So maybe I’ll switch to this. For some reason, I found some peace going to the zoo and just sitting there for hours watching the penguins. What does this have to do with SJ and The Outset? Absolutely nothing 😆, but I get it; there’s just something about penguins that is calming. 😌 I’m over celebrity skin care, so I won’t be trying anything from her. She (or her people) does look like she tried hard and did her research. Alas, sorry SJ, I’m doing well over here. But I so appreciate your reviews! Uuuuugggghhhhhh, hyaluronic acid. Another thing I’m over. And I’m tired of everyone hyping this ingredient up. Ummm, it’s a humectant. Not a miracle ingredient. 🤷🏼♀️ Personally, I’m looking for glycerin, beta glucan, and urea as my humectants. HA is a kid who doesn’t always play well with others or is always happy = semi-problem child. Kinda like copper peptides, in my experience. Not my favorite friend(s). My skin much prefers those others. Niacinamide at least has a lot of benefits and scientific research to back it up. Ok, I’m done! 😂 I had no idea SJ’s new line would bring up so emotions!🤣

I was a huge fan of Scarlett Johansson for years, special favourites being The Nanny Diaries, Match Point and her role as Marvel's Black Widow. She was my feminist icon for years. But given her defensive, cis entitled statement about playing Trans and Asian characters after starring in Ghost in The Shell and claiming that she can play a trans person ( basically any gender) or any animal or any tree, if she wants while simultaneously invalidating and dimissing the voices of the LGBTQIA+ and Asian Community who called her out on this, I no longer support her on any of her ventures, including her skincare line ( much like I don't support Jeff St*r). And in all honesty, I would much rather support tried and tested pharma brands and small independent skincare brands that do a far better job but get far less attention than celeb lines that take attention away from the smaller brands that need and deserve it. Other than that, great job reviewing the line :) It was very thorough and educational!
