In November 2021, I was so bored from still not being able to travel. After lockdown restrictions eased in Kuala Lumpur, I really wanted to unleash myself on the world, but cases were still high and WORK. aaah... so much work that the entire creative industry just had to push through with completing- shoots, video edits, funding reports, etc. etc....which had a big DEC 2021 due date stamped on it.
So I decided to create a little fun journey for myself (and get work done at the same time), with this Type A Breakfast event that I found on Peatix.
I used to be a Type A through and through. High school best student, 10 As for SPM, Basketball club, Track and Field, Valedictorian. I was this crazy high achiever who LOVED productivity, winning and getting things done. Then I went to drama school and was being asked constantly to 'let go', to 'drop down' to 'chill', to 'not end-gain', to 'not think of the goal'....I started to hate my Type A personality, and for the next 3 years, (even me saying this is so quintessentially Type A).....I determined to discover how to be the best Type B ever. I should really do a whole separate video on THAT. LOL
But basically, I felt that I needed to 'Re Type A' myself for 2022.
So the basic concept behind Type A Breakfast co-working meetups is, use the amazing power of peer pressure to finish your 8 hours of work in 2 hours- and finish it first thing in the morning.
The idea is you finish all the difficult to do tasks first, and by 10 am, you have your ENTIRE DAY ahead of you to
-be creative
-have business meetings and really focus on being present with other humans
-workout
-do whatever
I LOVED THIS. I felt that it really worked! Just the idea of waking up early and attempting to finish my 8 hours of work in 2 hours, made me psyched and turned on my competitive spirit.
By the end I felt accomplished and productive. You get a rush of dopamine at 10am, which leaves you feeling charged for the entire day. It's good stuff folks!
