Lennox has a scam going... there is no way a replacement thermostat should be $800+! That's like buying a new car because your battery died. Ridiculous.

I appreciate the video, because my IComfort thermostat went out today. I already know this thermostat can be expensive.

That thermostat has gone bad for thousands of people. I purchased a replacement from eBay for $500.00. Lennox.

do you know why the icomfort can’t be replaced by any smart thermostat? Like ecobee or nest.

Does it have to be a Lennox communicating thermostat or can a Honeywell communicating thermostat be used with a Lennox furnace (as long as new/additional wiring installed)?

What thermostat did you end up using? Do you have a video on install?

Those have planned obsolescence. The capacitor inside the controller goes bad readily. I tried replacing it and it worked well for a bit until the terminals just weren’t making contact. So now trying to replace it I find out I can’t because it’s a communicating system. Unbelievable.

I have a lennox thermostat my complete system is nearly 4 years old . When it was initially installed I had the same problem it was replaced yet I still have a problem periodically....now that it's on regularly I don't turn off in the summer it stays on 73 .....it simply turns to a black screen

This thermostat is crap. We have two Lennox HVACs. The first pair-different brand-lasted 20 years with no issues and no thermostat failures. Last year-3 years old & under warranty the same thing happened. The worker said that they cost $1200!! because they are minicomputers. Next time he suggested we get a simpler one that they have when we’ll have to pay for it. We have never used or set up all the ridiculous features on this fancy one. They didn’t offer that option when we bought the system or we would have chosen it. Now the HVAC is working but there is no way to control the temperature. Even though there is a five year warranty on most of it and. ten year limited warranty, The thermostats are only covered for 3, but, of course, this is not in writing anywhere. Typical state of shoddy corporate business practices these days.

A better alternative would’ve been to send the thermostat off to someone that repairs electronics. It woulda been way cheaper

Assuming I check the wires at the thermostat and I'm NOT getting 24v (nothing, really), I assume the problem is with the furnace? - Edit: I checked the controller board (or whatever it's called, the thing in the furnace that the Thermostat connects to) and it appears there is a 3 amp fuse on it that looks blown. I'm going to replace it tomorrow and see if that brings the whole thing back to life.

did that work?
@Sudz28

@@sectr9goddess Sadly, it did not. The new 3amp fuse I replaced the bad one with immediately blew out when I turned power on to the controller board, then the same thing happened to a second replacement. In the end I had to contact a local HVAC company, and they had to replace the controller board entirely. Good news was, the board was still under warranty. The bad news was that it only covered the part, not the labor, so it still cost me I think around $250.

Mine just keeps going to white screen... Screen froze initially with a bunch of color all over screen then after dc and reconnecting it, it is just all white. The unit is still running at the last temp it was set on I believe (based on how it feels). I took it off for a couple hours and put back on and screen just goes white again... Any ideas? I tried connecting to it using usb port on bottom of unit and it doesn't do anything other than charge the device i connected it to. I appreciate all help, thanks in advance!

Ours just quit this morning with exactly the same issue. Thankfully its still running and the system turns on and off. It's only 4 years old. Here's another video that explains some replacement options. I went with the more basic model, because we don't have zones and don't have it hooked up to wifi. kzitem.info/news/bejne/spqtuX2Oa4xemYI

Will never buy another Lennox product. They're notorious for failing. Ever since I got my new furnace in 2018, every single year I've needed some kind of major repair and my screen just started doing this. Wish I followed my first mind and went with another company.

I now have a failed thermostat outside of the warranty period. I have had failed coils, overcharged refrigerant, and now the thermostat. Make no mistake, Lennox is the worst HVAC company on the face of the earth. I also have a Trane and a Goodman and I have not no problems with either of those. Costco should drop these guys as they are horrible!
@skassel9028

No, Lennox is par with Carrier and Trane. The difference is marginal. Perhaps you just had a defective unit, all co's put those out. Typically around ~2.5% on these type of residential (assuming you're talking about residential) RTU's...
