What I mean is just understand that maple syrup is 100% natural unprocessed simply drained from a living tree and bottled!! Whereas table sugar is made from sugarcane or beets and is highly processed, and highly refined and therefore manufactured!! What we know as Crystal table sugar DOESN'T exist in nature-in fact all of the nutrients and minerals are stripped from it and that's where you get blackstrap molasses from which is concentrated goodness! Stripping all those nutrients to make it crystalline & white denatures it!! Anything that is natural AND unrefined and unprocessed by man, is ALWAYS going to be better for you than something we have tampered with through our processing refining and manufacturing processes!🤨😉

All maple syrups are boiled to evaporate the water content of the maple sap and reduce it to obtain the concentrated syrup to varying degrees of intensity like light, amber, dark, etc. The ratio of the initial maple sap used to the final maple syrup obtained is 40 to one, i.e. you need 40 liters of maple sap to obtain 1 liter of maple syrup.

LOL But they don't sell the maple sap in its raw form as it doesn't have much flavour. I've tasted it a couple of times a long time ago as have many others that visit sugar shacks and I've never heard of anyone getting even a stomach upset but there's no point in consuming it raw, it's mostly water. That's why it has to be boiled for so long until it reaches a heavy enough consistency and sweet flavour that would make it marketable.

I think I've heard sucrose is processed by your liver differently than fructose, to the point where it's actually more beneficial in shuttling macronutrients and micronutrients to your muscles post-wotkout, hence why bodybuilders use it as their sweetener in the post-workout protein shakes.

Maple syrup is not dehydrated sap, it actually simmers to concentrate the flavor. Dehydration would involve removing all fluid. We concentrate broth as well. You wouldn't call it dehydrated broth, right? The longer the syrup simmers, the more concentrated, sweet and dark it gets. I cook ham or beans or different desserts with it. It's nutritious. It's not regular sugar at all. I include it in tea, smoothies and crêpes (which is the thin French version of a pancake. I make French toast, walnut banana bread with it. You get the idea... it's leaf is on my country's flag. 🇨🇦 😁

My family has used real maple syrup as a substitute for sugar in all kinds of things for years.. I knew it was better, but not that much. The only issue with it is that it's literally more expensive than gold! In a family of 4 we go through a jug (32oz) probably every 2 week and it's like 20 bucks a bottle.. so when you don't make a lot (me) you definitely have to budget for it, but it's probably worth it.

Sir, as a kid coming back from skiing, about twice a winter we use to stop at a Cabane a Sucre on our way home to Montreal. They had a 3 or 4 course set meal with maple syrup with every course. It was an amazing treat. The kids for dessert would get a small wooden pail and ladle and sent outside. What we did was ladle some syrup onto a snow bank and ate it as a "toffee". If you ever go to Quebec for some spring skiing when the sap is running, I recommend you search out and stop into one. The food is great, but even as kids living in maple syrup country, we never wanted to see maple syrup again for weeks afterwards.

For a healthy person without health problems and allergies, it's the best to eat everything in moderation and a high quality. Then the food contains all vitamins and minerals that are needed. For example, some beneficial components are especially in leafy greens, some in fruits, some only in meat, some in fish, some in oatmeal and so on. For example the body needs a little bit of omega 6, but eating too much of it is harmful to the body. And when you don't eat meat, eggs and dairy, you must supplement B12, or you will get ill one day, when the stored B12 is used up.

I've been an insulin-dependent diabetic since 1993. I occasionally get a taste for french toast but because I know how bad the sugar hit is I've always used real Maple syrup. And when I make the French toast I bathe it in eggs it has a lot more egg and butter than it does have bread, just about. Say it like this the structural Integrity of the bread is flimsy until it's actually fried on the stove top. Hearing this about real maple syrup versus the store-bought sugar laden maple flavored sugar syrup is good news because I've had a good habit then with real maple syrup. I don't bathe it in maple syrup but I do ensure the French toast has a lot of egg in it. Offsetting the carbs with a higher fat and protein hit can never go wrong. It's why I'm not big on pancakes I can at least add a whole bunch of eggs to the French toast versus pancakes which you can't.

This is like justifying drinking Coke because you dissolved a multivitamin in it. Sure maple syrup and honey may be more nutritionally replete than standard table sugar or HFCS, but does the nutritional content justify the sugar content in either honey or maple syrup, when considering that these sweet substances can trigger cravings in large swathes of the population? You can get these much touted vitamins, minerals and antioxidants in other foods that have far lower glycemic indexes/loads and which do not trigger cravings for other bad foods. This advocacy for honey or maple syrup is just a way to convince people that they can have their cake and eat it too.
