im not sure but i think the metal gauze prevents that from happening

@@vidhibarot6972 I don't understand the point of the metal gauze, isn't the whole point is to see if the heat travels? why block it?
@vidhibarot6972

@@User-0192-c8d well as he said in the video, the metal gauze is to separate the ice from the water, so its to make sure that the ice isn't going to melt because of the water but it would melt because of the heat. but since water is a poor conductor of heat, it simply will not. also, are you writing igcse in oct nov 2021?

@@User-0192-c8d since ice is less denser, it will float to the top of the test-tube. we don't want that since ice will be exposed to the flame, destroying the whole point of the experiment. so, we block the ice by a metal gauze, ice will still conduct heat, metal gauze won't stop the heat from travelling, also, good luck for ur exams

uummhm how about their reflection did not notice it in the vid
@jeniuskiddo3768

yup, he didn't metioned about reflectors but it's quite easy. Basically the opposite of absorbers. So using the same last experiment for absorption, we can see reflection too. Dull black surfaces are better absorbers than white shiny surfaces, which instead are good reflectors of radiation. You can see that they didn't absorb the heat instead reflected them back.
