My obligatory Infinite TST stacking video for Tetris Effect. Usually, T-Spin Triples are the most effective way to score points. T-Spin Doubles and T-Spin Singles have a better points per cleared line ratio but you must combine them with Tetrises (at least one Tetris every 5 T-Spin Doubles). However, the Zone mechanics completely changes that calculation.
Firstly, lines cleared during the Zone don't count towards the total amount of cleared lines in your current level. When freestyling (mix of T-Spin Doubles and Tetrises), you can move all the Tetrises towards the Zone, and only use T-Spin Doubles outside of the Zone.
Secondly, the most effective way to use the Zone is starting it when it is only filled at a quarter circle (every 10 lines on expert difficulty). Tetrises are a quick way to clear some lines while in the Zone. So you end up with more cleared lines plus you get to the Zone score multiplier more quickly. If you don't max out the zone meter, then each line clear during the zone scores as many points as outside of the Zone ... until you have cleared 8 lines from which point onwards everything counts doubled (including drop points). If you start the Zone with Tetrises, then the second Tetris will already score doubled (as will every following line clear). If you start the Zone with T-Spin Triples, then you need 3 T-Spin Triples to reach that multiplier - and that's almost impossible in a short Zone.
Thirdly (is this even a word?), the overhang required for T-Spin Triples limits your options. In case of Tetrises you can build a T-Spin Double on top of that and you can execute them in any order. In case of T-Spin Triples my only options are to chain it into a 4 wide or to build a Tetris on top of it (to reach the multiplier more quickly but that blocks of the execution of the Triples). I think I tried the latter once or twice in that video but you need a lot of luck to pull it off. And if clearing Zone lines after the T-Spin Triples, it's hard to get back to the Infinite TST technique (and you lose back-to-back which matters a lot).
For comparison, see Wumbo's current record for expert difficulty in the Tetris Effect demo. He got at least 40,000 more points than me and that's all thanks to the performance in the Zone. I think he always reached Perfectrises (17 to 19 cleared lines in the Zone) while I usually clear about 6 lines.
