My respect for Ms Bergman grow even more having watched this interview. She so patiently went through it though being interrupted by the host who obviously also didn’t do his homework in her. I could’ve listened to her for hours.

I love this interview. It is interesting seeing the person behind the actress, and what an actress. Beauty, maturity, personality and talent plus.

I was the press agent for "Whorehouse" and was watching in the Green Room backstage. They had taken Alexis out. Ingrid came in the room when she was finished with her interview, and her escort (husband?) was urging her to leave because the car was waiting, and she was frail, as you say. Ingrid said no, and was very insistent. She said she wanted to watch Alexis and she sat there to view the monitor. So I watched Alexis and my cast, along with Ingrid!

She was gorgeous, classy yet so down to earth. Nice to watch her pictures being restored on blu ray. Elena et les hommes, is amazing from 1956. The french did a great job in restoring this little known picture. Hopefully the studios will release Goodbye Again, with Tony Perkins on blu ray.

We love the Brits so well, but as an American living in France, I must say the French are devoted filmmakers & cinema lovers. The only ones to say no to the intimidating US demand for 80-90% US film distribution rights in Europe at the GAT (in Switzerland), insisting they too had a cinema of their own & judiciously getting 50% rights to make & distribute French film in France. And this happily continues.

Nice to hear Ms. Bergman does not watch violence as I also do not like to watch violence. Movies need to be made without violence.

Loved this episode so much just been watching old movies with both thes ladies over the past weekend. The women from the play were so talented to what a shame none were in the movie of the same name. The folks in Hollywood could learn a lot from these two wonderful ladies. I prefer most of the old movies to what they put out now. Susan

My mom is the spitting image of Alexis Smith. I love watching any interview or project she is in just because of that. Plus she is very talented. Bit of trivia...she was one of Sam Malones lovers on an episode of Cheers. She was like 30 years older than Ted Danson, but pulled it off perfectly.

what a very strange interview. Asking leading questions like does she want sex and violence in films banned which is a huge leap from what she was saying about films. Just weird. It was very shallow and like his research was from Hollywood rag mags. He repeats the accusations of a moral code which is offensive. He repeatedly gets his "facts" wrong and then keeps pressing that she validate them. Merv and Alexis both closet gays. Sad it was that way (and still is) for so many.

Hmm, for one, this IS still 1980, e.g. you aren't supposed to be gay yet, privately, yes, but not publically, or, middle class young adults are still very serioius about dancing classes with courtesy schooling, like, the "moral code" is still very different from today. On the other hand, she's witty about the whole thing (in her autobiography too)! Which she never revealed earlier! So on in way, he'a asking the old questions, now hear the real answers - good for him.

They had one model on their that was Black. Really?? It's like you would think they are no Black people. This was in 1980. They wanted the world to believe we were other than. But, inclusion was still at a minimum. But, people knew better.
