On a recent trip to Emerald, I stopped in a small town called Injune between Roma an Springsure this two stories timber Queensland Hotel sits on the corner off the main road as you drive into town, you need to turn near the supermarket and it on the next corner off the main road what good nice and quiet I you stay overnight, the town’s main street appears to have moved to allow for the main road not sure on that, The Injune Hotel built in 1936 the Injune Hotel owned by Tony Harris has been in the game a long time and runs a good pub you can spend a couple of hours reading the walls and exploring the history and memorabilia on the ceilings, walls and outback in the beergarden. The public bar and bottle shop offer a great wine list for the food offering, when I stayed the night, a French Chef cooked up the French version of a Chicken Parmigiana it was next level and with a nice bottle of wine and a cold beer or five.
The Injune Hotel as originally called the Coronation Hotel when it was first built in 1936 and serviced the local farming community as Roma was 80klm away and Springsure about the same in the other direction it made sense, A proposed railway line being built from Roma to Injune was allotted to Returned Service men from the War, and Injune became a Gazetted town in 1922 by 1940 the town and community had established Cricket club. Rodeo Grounds just up from the Pub that’s handy a Race Club still open today, the Injune hotel is the perfect place ace yourself to visit to Carnarvon Gorge National Park the Ward’s Canyon and Moss Gardens great trip and the Amphitheatre and retreat back to after hard day exploring for a cold beer and feed at the pub.
