Brief alignment: Sit in a boat pose with your legs up at chin level, and your arms in line with the legs. Tip back slightly. Lower the left leg down and bend the knee bringing the foot to the groin. Yogic toe lock the right big toe with the pointer and middle finger as you extend the leg out and up. Wrap the left arm around the right like a rope, with the elbows and fore arms squeezing in. Straighten the spine and lift the gaze up.
Benefits: Opens the hamstrings and shoulders, strengthens the abs, opens up the main meridians that channel the vital energy flow.
Contraindications: Hamstring, shoulder and elbow injury.
