Oh man, Rotting Christ are one of my favourite bands, and not just because I m Greek. They are the perfect blend of black metal with gothic style and melodic sound. If you liked their epicness and atmosphere in this song (not one of their greatest for sure) there are sooo many songs you ll love. For starters check out Sign of prime creation and kata ton daimona eaytoy. Two big epic ones. There are so much more... Really glad to see people discovering them and liking them. Many greetings from Athens!

400 views after 3 days, tragedy. One of the best live bands I've ever seen. Fantastic legacy of albums. The last 4 have this really sacrilegious, sexy sheen to them. Check out In Yuman/Xibalba by them. 1st track off kata ton daimona eatoy. That whole album is incredible. Heretics (most recent lp) is only more fire because he screams 'fire' borderline every other line...

Awesome to see someone react to Rotting Christ, would be great to see more. I've loved RC since I heard them first time in '93 (Passage to Arcturo and Thy Mighty Contract are still my faves, though I do like the new stuff too, like Κατά τον δαίμονα εαυτού) and they're a great live band, plus nice guys to talk with. Some tracks to check out could be Русалка ("Rusalka"), Ahura Mazdā-Aŋra Mainiuu or Grandis Spiritus Diavolos from Κατά τον δαίμονα εαυτού, best probably not to move too much back yet.

Since they're from Greece, it's no surprise they use a sort of monotone bassline droning throughout the song. It's very reminiscent of Greek Orthodox chant, interestingly.

What you hear my friend is the Hellenic Spirit. Sakis (vocals, guitars and composer) has a lot of soul and he can transfer it through the songs. And what I mean by that, even though I can't really explain it with words, is the essence of Hellas and the Hellenic way. The way of the Φιλότιμο (there isn't a translation for that). We Hellenes do not kneel. Even to the gods we stand and speak.The NON SERVIAM way. Check Theogonia album and AEALO album. Especially AEALO you will get a ton of this Hellenic Spirit I'm talking about.
@krispalermo8133

Well, there was .. one .. god the Hellenes did .. kneel to. Sometimes your Hellenes ancestors kneel and politely knock on the ground three times, other times they just slam their knee to the ground with a load thump and punch the ground twice to say .. hello. Back in 1986 when I was nine years old, I pizz off my grandma cause I cut off my little toe from the left foot and buried it with two silver coins. Granny notice I was in .. pain .. with a twitch in my left leg and a .. visitor .. told her where I buried my toe & two coins at, so it was sowed back on in time.

@krispalermo8133

@@liquidbotanorama3786 Hades : offering/ prayers to the god of the underworld were start off by kneeling and thumping the ground with your right fist. Those who could afford a lead box/ jar place their tribute into the container and buried the offering in the earth or placed it in a cave/ rock face in a little tomb. Most of the time it was a small craved clay jar. Prayers for protection and rites of passage of a person into adult hood, .. and insurance payment to Charon. a.) Birth jar, a few strains of hair from a newly born child barely a month old, with a blood drop from the infant. Along with a small coin just in case to pay the Ferryman if the child died from crib death. Or if the baby is stolen. b.) Child jar, fill with a couple of baby teeth, along with hair, blood, and a couple of coins to bribe the Ferryman to have the child to live to being a youth and leaving behind , accept that person is no longer a baby. c.) Toe jar, reckless and adventurous child that refuse to slow down and listen to their parents and along with those interning military training had one small toe cut off their foot with two coins buried in a jar. The act meant you are putting away child like thing and ideals and will start to learn the ways of being an adult. " I am not a little child anymore." Till the foot heals they will learn to watch how they walk. d.) Shaved groin hair, sure sign you are no longer a child to be switched with a willow branch if you misbehave. e.) Young adult, ready for militia military service to defend your city stated, do to local Greek/ Hellenic traditions if the little toe has not been cut off yet it is now. When people died in ancient times they had a coin placed into their mouth or one on each eye to pay the Ferryman Charon for passage into the land of the dead. Incase you died from mishap and receive no burial, you already had a " small proper burial " for yourself and prepaid the Ferryman. As for my .. sources .. I heard too many ghost stories as a child in the 1980's. And my grandma's sister bullied me for learning about pagan satanist none sense instead of learning about Jesus. Long story short I cut my toe off to show I am willing to follow ancient Greek custom over her Christian none sense. My death has been paid for. Now the books I read in the 90's were a bit fun. There was a few " Pagan History on Grave Goods " books that explain burial customs around the world. Such as burring a box/ or large plant jar with lid holding grains, jerky, alcohol, and gifts of art next to your family members graves. The Romans believed in cremation so grave goods were ritual burnt and the ashes were then placed in an urn next to their fore parents' ash urn. Hope this over explanation helps out, have a good day, and G*D bless.

@@krispalermo8133 my friend you just copy pasted most of it. and I think that you didn't get what Im saying or I didn't explain it good. In essence tho, Αδης, as you say is the god of the dead. And I didn't mention it but yes the only time we used to is for our dead. So in a way you are right. I get the toe part but.. was it neccessary my guy?? I mean respect to a level for your beliefs and obviously you mean what you say but.. dat toe broooo :D Also yes the hebrew/christian (as i call it) organisation have done many wrongs. especially the people manipulating since the beginning. I mean when Paul came to "teach ancient Hellenes about jesus" LOL they laughed at him. "Come again tommorow and let us now" they told him Also this general knowledge does not apply 100% to all illiterate people back then. But that's the beauty of it and why Hellenic civilization is so different from Aigyptian, Chinese, Sumerians etc. Ancient Hellenes had even realised there is 1 "god" and that's why they made a statue "to the one unknown god" and christian hippies translated it like it was for jose eee jesus my bad. Anyway man the point is NON SERVIAM. CRITICAL THINKING, RESPECT, PEACE and HEALTH.

Thank you for posting your review. Back in the early 1990's my brother and some of his friends were big into Panthera and they came in with a concert tape of them playing Live in Mosco. Me, " Hey I was watching PBS on tribal drumming music of the Congo. " Them, " Democratic, you been out voted." Me a few minutes later, " Panthera is playing the same drum rift as the people of the Congo." One of them, " NO .. they .. Are .. NOT ! " Another, " I think he's right." We pulled out a second tv and played/ watch both shows at the same time. Result, .. same drum rift. a.) Bunch of white people jumping up & down head banging to drums. b.) Buch of black people jumping up & down head banging to drums. People separated from each other by around four thousand miles and 15, 000 to 30, 000 years with close to 80% of the same bass drum rift. Few weeks ago, I typed in Jazz/ blues heavy set black female singer. I got some skinny blond white woman. She sounded ok, but it was not what I was looking for. Tried a few other word searches. ... Do you have a list of black women classic R&B jazz singers ? Any help will be nice. Also try listening to the band called HU: wolf totem.
