What a cool woman Susie is! Sweet of her to give you (and us) Insider's access. I remember the tour video of his mansion several years ago and it was wonderfully, pure kitsch. For any who actually wonder why he would "deface" superior autos, like the Rolls, It was simply because his embellishment lent them spectacular status. Thanks Sarah Jane.

I used to sometimes take his vehicles to the shop/station I worked at in Palm Springs, CA. I lived only about 1/2 block from his estate there. It had a fence completely around it, and there were piano keys painted all over the fence. We did the service on the vehicles as I worked at the North Palm Canyon Shell Station. We also did Bob Hopes, and several lesser known celebs cars.

Your hair is beautiful Sarah. Liberace would have loved to have met you. My mom played the piano, so we would always watch Liberace on TV. Each time Liberace performed, he would always introduce his "Brother George". Now, when Liberace is mentioned, his brother George is never mentioned. Born in Menasha, Wisconsin, he was the elder brother and business partner of famed U.S. entertainer Liberace (Władziu Valentino Liberace or "Lee" to his friends). He appeared regularly on his brother's syndicated television show in the 1950s as violin accompanist and orchestral arranger.

I enjoyed your video of Liberace’s cars, jewelry and the costumes. I was surprised to see the the former Liberace Museum was now a taco restaurant. I ate once at Tivoli Gardens as well. I enjoyed my meal there as well. My late Mom was the historian/archivist at the Liberace Museum for many years. There was much more information available if you knew someone who worked at the Museum when it was open. I attended the same party you did in 2013 at the Liberace home now owned by a new owner. The current owner had just published a new book and had a private party at his home. There was quite a bit to see in Liberace’s former home. The bathtub was amazing. Again, I enjoyed your video of the Liberace sites in Vegas. I lived in Las Vegas 29 years and visited the museum quite a few times while my Mom worked there.

Thank you for the video on Liberace. Years ago when I was in Las Vegas, I visited the original Liberace museum. What struck me was that he wasn't as appreciated as I thought. I watched his weekly TV shows when I was young and he was a fantastic entertainer. If he were alive today, he would be a sensation compared to the artists of today. Liberace was the greatest!

About half the cars I notice are kit cars made by kits obviously from domestic cars and like the Bradley GT was made from a Volks wagon as is the volks royce. The one RR was made from a Chevy ...they oddly left the Chevy steering wheel in it! So, no worries, he didnt piss up some cool european cars ...he just had them custom made out of everyday cars!

This is so cool. 15 or more years ago we visited the Liberace museum as a good friend of ours was the director of it so we got a private tour. Wish I could find the pictures I took. Around 1957 my then stepfather was a photographer. He took me to Liberace's home in Sherman Oaks. I met him and I will say he was very nice. He wasn't flamboyant nor dressed garishly. I remember the piano pool because it was such a novelty. Secondly most of the cars in the collection are kit cars on vw frames or special builds from a GM car.

Sarah, IIRC, the Liberace Museum was on the corner, with an ante-building directly behind, and the Tivoli Gardens Restaurant was across the parking lot to the side, but my memory fades. I talked to Dora Liberace, George's wife, who showed me some of the family photo albums. George was in the Navy during WWII. He was a band leader, touring the Pacific, entertaining the troops. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Jon

This was Grand WH....I met Liberace at the O'hare Airport in 1978...he was walking in the concourse with his then Chauffeur, Scott Thorson and I was walking towards them and knew instantly who he was. I was a young pup to be sure and my thought that he even gave me any attention was he was surprised a young buck would recognize him. I asked if he would sign the sleeve my plane ticket was in and he suggested we shake hands as he was in a hurry. He was very courteous and nice and as I walked away afterwards an Elderly Couple was standing by the wall and the wife said to the husband..."I Told you that was Liberace"!! I laughed and left with my memory! Cheers From Ohio To The Best Travel guide EVER

I remember Liberace in my younger years. In the 60s, he appeared, several times, in 'Batman,' as identical twins; one good, one evil. He wasn't bad as an actor. He would also appear on variety shows and get into some comedy sketches. During his colorful costume period, I kept thinking of him as "America's Elton John." Famous impressionists, like Rich Little, would do imitations of him, which so many loved. He was part of that "Golden Age" of entertainment, which is now long gone. As an old hippie, I love women with long, flowing hair. It suits you as a nature girl.

My mother is a huge Liberace fan and knows almost everything a fan could about him. Liberace chose that neighborhood because it was an easy, fast commute to the strip hotels when he was in residency at a couple of the different hotel showrooms. Good to see the new owners have restored the house and are keeping it up. In the early 2000s we visited it when it was abandoned, boarded up and run down. It was the eyesore of the neighborhood. Good to see it looking good again. Thanks for sharing!

How many fake animals had to die to make that fake fur coat? How many Sunbuzzles and Genekazoos? How many Gillfangs and Mustydindoos? Did they splash you with paint, or slime you with goo? Or did they play nice 'cause they knew it was you? Okay, Liberace was a showman, with his outfits, and with his signature candelabra atop a grand piano. I recall seeing him on TV when I was kid, and on Vegas hotel marquees a few times while passing through on my way to and from visits to my parents' place in the desert, west by southwest of Victorville, CA. Be well. Safe travels.
