We have tried cement in the grass for our swings for our children and it keeps on just lifting and cement cracks help

this is dependant on what you are anchoring. A heavy duty climbing frame needs to be cemented but on the other hand this simple small fun swing set should do fine with this method shown above.

We are putting up a large heavy-duty metal swing set that was salvaged from a school. We planned to pour concrete footings but I don't want to lose any height by sinking the legs into the ground. I wonder if this technique would work for a metal swing set.

Unless you live in northern Arkansas, then this method would go two inches into the ground, maybe, then hit rock. Nope, you're going to need a rock bar and a post hole digger and several layers of skin to be sacrificed. Holes here are earned.

Mot sure that would be very safe, but good principle as alternative is to concrete

Unless that pitch is made of cake it will never be that easy , very unsmart system compared to others
