Jason Ananda Josephson Storm (@ProfStorm) is professor of religion and chair of science and technology studies at Williams College. In this video, we ask him some questions about his most recent works, such as 'The Invention of Religion in Japan' (2012), where he traces the word "religion" in Japanese culture, revealing its colonialist imposition and the productive consequences for the studies. religious. Also 'The myth of disenchantment' (2017), in which he challenged the Weberian idea that modernity replaced superstition with logic and reason. Storm argues that spirituality was not marginalized, but practiced surreptitiously.
His latest publication, 'Metamodernism: The Future of Theory' (2021), criticizes how postmodernism has been approached and proposes a way out of the critical circularity that separates the social sciences from the social spectrum. In addition, he is working on a monograph on genealogy and a book on power.
