I think the term stoning was chosen over lynching because deep down Claudia knew Louis wasn't going to die. But a lot of women of the Bible were stoned to death for small crimes.

You cannot tell me that Armand did not orchestrate this entire thing. That’s why the show kept cutting to him when Lestat was missing his lines you mean to tell me that he put the whole coven to sleep in a restaurant but he’s powerless now because of freaking Sam Sam is keeping him prisoner is that what we’re telling me. And Santiago is as much of a baby vamp as Claudia so there’s no way that he’s being elected coven leader I think Armand definitely could’ve done some thing.

Armand is a lot of things but powerless is certainly not one of them. Armand who flung Lestat around with a flick of his wrist and knocked his entire coven out by simply shouting "ENOUGH" and slamming his hand down on the table? That same Armand was guarded by simple Sam and only had enough strength to save Louis?! Yeah, Armand can miss me with that bullshit!

Hmm I think what Lestat did was still unwarranted. I mean even Lestat thinks his actions were unwarranted. He said it outright in this episode. Even SAM REID himself said that Lestat went too far. This is from his interview for ep 7: "he saw from his own hands an action that was unforgivable. You've physically hurt the person that you love so much that you no longer feel like you deserve to be with them. He knew that, and I think the thing is that he realized that as soon as he's done that, he also has to die." It's textbook abuser behaviour to try to gain sympathy by playing the "x made me stressed, x made me lonely, x triggered me" card to shift the blame to the victim. Even in Lestat's version, he started the fight. He choked out Claudia. Louis' actions were in response to his spouse attacking their daughter.

Literallyyy louie is far from perfect but to not acknowledge how much abuse plays a part in this story is so misguided. People always treat louie in his relationship with lestat as if he has an even power dynamic with him. Also i feel desirability politics of the fans lead them to come to certain conclusions in their minds despite race being also a strong part of this story.

You went hard on Louis 😭 ! Undeserving too. I have to disagree. Louis is indeed a manipulator but, he was thrown like "an egg from a plane" by Lestât. Lestât simply, he could not let him go. Lestât’s ego was concealed as loneliness. But really, it’s abuse. Especially with him being the powerful one. Also, Louis as a black vampire in New Orleans in those times, how can he be a saviour of anyone? I say he is a victim of this story, but he adapts well. Louis is a Surviver. Although, I low key didn’t like how he treated Armand in Paris. As though he was still recovering from Lestât’s abuse.. Armand is also suss 🤔 Now, HE could’ve saved all three of them.

When it comes to Armand, his character is deeply religious and he has been brainwashed into the rules set by the coven. I think him not saving Claudia or Madeline was simply he didn’t love them. Plus he never believed Claudia would be able to endure vampire life in the long run. Between the Armand and Lestat, I prefer Armand. I loved that he refused to turn Madeleine for Louis because abuse vampire life is full of tragedy, whereas Lestat indulged Louis need for a daughter despite knowing the end result would be devastating to Claudia. Louis is the ultimate manipulator in his relationships.

@@vizeas noted! I quite like your perspective and take on Armands actions (or lack of it). The more I think of it, the more I realise how ethical his actions were. Although empathetic, deeply understanding of pain and yet refusing Louis requests and needs, he did right by his beliefs. His leadership was challenged by his team, mainly due to Louis and Claudia’s disregard to the coven rules. My suspicion is due to Armand’s lack of warning and or a heads up for Louis and co. The script was written and rehearsed well in advance. Surely, a heads up would’ve been great.
@vizeas
Ай бұрын
@@user-jx4xv1rj5e I agree a heads up would have been nice, but Claudia and Louis were warned by Lestat, that the Paris coven was brutal. Armand repeatedly mention that if the coven found out he was lying they would react harshly. I would not be surprised I’d Armand set the whole thing up or just let things happen, he was the leader of the coven for centuries he wasn’t just going to go against his core beliefs cold turkey. I honestly believe of Madeleine and Claudia had not returned to Paris, they would have been safe. Like I said Armand never loved Claudia, so I don’t blame him for putting all his energy in protecting Louis and keeping the coven intact with or without him.

Yeah, almost everyone keeps saying Lestat deserved to be killed in New Orleans, but honestly I didn’t think so even while I was watching the first season. Louis had a choice not to take him back after events in the episode 5. Louis is emotionally manipulative and abusive too. Claudia is not a naive little child anymore she is made out to be either. She could have taken Louis to Europe while Lestat was gone for years, but she was content in New Orleans so long Lestat was not in the picture anymore. So it’s definitely not all black and white like some people see it.

Oh and don’t get me started on Louis agreeing to kill the love of his life. Double standards everywhere lol

@@klowwwwwdoesn’t help at all because I like to think for myself. The show creators tell a story, but in the end of the day it’s the viewers who are left with it to interpret as they see fit. And in the show the only extra transgression of Lestat compared to Louis before Claudia had a nervous breakdown and took off was making her watch Charlie burn. Antoinette was none of her business, it was between Lestat and Louis. What else did he do that was oh so horrible for her to start acting like EVERYTHING was Lestat’s fault? She absolutely hated his guts way before the domestic violence scene, not because of it. She was being a typical teenage brat caught in her feelings, but whose fault was it that she was created to be in the emotional turmoil forever and ever? Oh right, not Lestat’s.

I’ll only add something Sam Reid (Lestat) said in an interview: We have never met the real Lestat. We are always watching, since season 1, someone’s interpretation of Lestat. The primary narrator is Louis with support from Claudia (via her diaries), and Armand. The whole trial sequence was a mix of Armand and Louis’s recollection of events. Like Louis said, because of the beating the coven gave him, he was in and out of consciousness. That’s the really meta part of the show we have to bear in mind. It’s not just a critique of unreliable narrators but memory and how we remember things, events, and people.

As a Lestat girl I felt vindicated this episode. When saw 1x05 I was Iike ain't no way it happened like that. No way... And I agree with you about Louis' character in New Orleans. He was moving in a very selfish holier-than-thou way. He caused this race riot where several people died. Then he hears Claudia and he calls her his redemption. He then saves her only to feel better about his own actions. That's it... Then he has the audacity to lie about what happened putting all the blame on Lestat! Louis doesn't take any accountability for his own actions whatsoever.
