@popnstart thanks for the comment. i always mention this error in measurement in my class and should have done so here as well. i tend to use this method as for our purpose and using manual construction the error is negligible. But glad you brought it up.

For a clockwise rotation, draw the tangents in the opposite direction. The top tangent goes to the left instead of the right. Then mark of divisions moving clockwise. It would be a mirror image of this answer.

draw the 40mm circle and divide it into 12 sectors. from one of the divisions draw a tangent 145mm long. each of the 12 divisions is (40x3.142)/12= 10.5. now 145/10.5 = 13.8. Divide the 145 line into 14 parts. Draw the tangents from the remaining sectors as in the video and each tangent should have one less division in length until it reaches the circle.

James, you used the dividers to transfer a CHORD length. You actually need the length of that arc(1/12th of the circle) to tranfer along the pi x dia. length line. For example, a 1.5 inch dia. circle will have a 1/12th chord length of .3882 in. and the arc length would be .3927 in., a .0045 in. error or a .054 in. cumulative error after 12 spaces. Just sayin'. Later, Rick.
