The network and structure along with the long term gain definitely looks like its worth it. Thanks for the further explanation again!

Thanks Josh for making this mini "cost-benefit analysis" video. I'm sure some people are considering to take a loan to finance the bootcamp tuition. They would find your video very helpful. I'm also glad that the bootcamp you went to offered ISA, so that you didn't have to start paying back until you've found a job which pays you certain salary.

Thanks for the information. I turned 30 in January and I want to get back to school to make a career change. This is me discovering bootcamps before deciding to go to a community college to then go to a university.

Thank you sooooo much for educating us out here!! I’m recently disabled due to a massive stroke & I want to learn how I can get educated & work from my home. I’m on permanent disability now & I’m only 42yo! I don’t want to have to survive off my disability for the rest of my life. I’m very interested in medical coding. Thank you so much again!!!

If you were to go back and do it all again, would you go with the same Bootcamp app academy, or would you switch to another? Great videos btw, you're great at speaking fluently and give great unbiased insight that I personally find very helpful!

Hard question because if I knew then what I know now, I would have known the exact curriculum to study on my own and maybe could have saved myself $30k lol. BUT, I think the real answer is that yeah I would do App Academy again. As far as bootcamps go, I still think it's one of the best. Thanks for the kind words - really glad you find the videos helpful 😊

Some people put it in this way, if you can get a job 3 months sooner by going to a bootcamp vs self-taught, then your bootcamp is pretty much paid for itself, with the money that you'll have made earlier in those 3 months. In your case, let say App Academy cut down your learning curve from 6 months to 3 months, and e.g. you found a job making 100k, you make 25k in the 3 months that you'd have had spent studying vs getting a job sooner, which is still 83% of your total bootcamp cost (30k)

Crucial point: the shorter your job search, the more financial sense the bootcamp makes. This emphasizes the necessity of a solid curriculum and portfolio projects so you can actually pass the interviews and get past the resume screen

There is hope but you have to push yourself. I get up at 4:30 code till 6:45 then leave for work, I get home at 5 then go to work after a shower till 8:30. I’m not bragging I’m just saying that self discipline is one of the hardest things to learn BUT it’s one of the most rewarding! Good luck on your journey :)

How much coding experience did you have prior to the boot camp? Also would you recommend a boot camp to a person with no coding experience whatsoever? If so which boot camp would you recommend? Would you recommend appacademy to someone without any coding xp?

I am trying to look around for boot camps... I am currently studying though team treehouse right now... seriously thinking about taking 1 to 2 years off from work and taking their tech degree program... idk if that still counts as self taught because its not an actual bootcamp, its all online, and self paced... I have heard allot of people on youtube mention team treehouse and was wondering if you had an opinion on team treehouse and their course? It seems like they have everything needed for a entry level position for a full stack web developer and more.

Most bootcamps I have been looking at either deal with development or data (and other courses like machine learning, blockchain, etc.). Is there any difference in average salary or job market climate (i.e. how long does it take to find a job on average) post-bootcamp + opportunity cost between these two (and other) courses? I'm considering going to bootcamp at the moment since it's getting harder to keep myself doing DIY free coding lessons accountable and in check with my progress.

www.levels.fyi/ is the best source for compensation data of data science vs. SWE vs. ML, etc. I can't speak to the differences in job market or outcomes across the various specialties because I only have experience with the software development route. Blockchain/crypto seems like a welcoming industry for newcomers but is complicated and I don't know anything about the process or outcomes.
