Last played in 2010 or 2011.. The game is AWESOME when you get mods that let you update the look of Darth Traya or give her another hand. Or go with an all Jedi team and have some awesome looking lightsaber colors. I liked the 2nd more than the first. But both get a 10/10 in my book.. Now SWTOR online is about a 6/10. It was fun for a couple years but it got repetative.

It wasn't that satisfying for me when I realised that my fully upgraded prototype vibroblade was still a better weapon than my brand new unmodified (single bladed) lightsaber. If you are someone who wants to play KotOR but you are worried about the gameplay: If you build your character right (which is very easy to do) it starts to feel more like an action game than the super "slow, etc" game that a lot of people describe it to be. Combat at mid-higher levels consists of this and only this: [Cast Master Speed -> Use Master Flurry -> Target dies] OR [Cast Master Speed -> Cast Force Storm -> Everything dies] This can be done in real-time and the animations are weirdly satisfying for a reason that I cannot really explain. So while it is a bit clunky at times it is not as slow or boring as a lot of people describe it to be.

My grandmother bought me this game for Christmas in 2003 when it came out when I was only 10 years old. It took me months to figure out how to get past the first level of the endar spire. But gradually as I’ve aged over the next few years I figured out how to complete each level and plan it as I got older. I literally grew up with this game step-by-step and it took me years to complete but by the time I did I feel I was far wiser for it as a middle-age teenager. Now as a nearly 30 year old this game remains my favorite game of all time and channels my distant memories from my childhood which I will always hold dear because this game is so timeless and its design is flawless which probably has attributed to the growth of many of my generation. KOTOR was my first proper RPG game and it was the game that made me love RPG's in general. The main reason why I got into it was because it was Star Wars and I was really into Star Wars for a time and I was searching for good Star Wars games and everywhere I looked everyone kept saying that this is simply the best Star Wars game in general and they weren't wrong. I played other RPG's before this one but never really understood them and I didn't bother with them much, but I stuck to this one simply because it was Star Wars. After I finished it I liked it so much that I wanted to search for other similar games and long story short, RPG's became my favorite genre. Eventually the top spot was later taken over by other RPG's, but it will always be special to me because it introduced me to what is now my favorite genre and all the other great games in it. I don't think I would have been much into RPG's if not for this.

Kotor was the first 40+hrs rpg I played truly evil in, and I was surprised at just how evil you got to be. Usually for my first playthroughs I'm the goodest do-gooder to ever good, or play a mostly good char. Not in the Star Wars universe though. I was sith all the way, a real SOB. Getting that guy to jump, out of all the mayhem I caused, for some reason still sticks out to me (though not enough to remember the correct game 😳) as one of my favorite "holy shit the game let me do that!" moments. The Sith outfits are sweet's one reason I like being the Sith. Also it's cathartic killing the space-monsters and non-human scum across the galaxy. Makes for easy decision making too, just picking the most evil options. Butchering that smelly wookie and his tentacle-headed lady friend was quite rewarding as well. When I was done with them the air was heavy with the stench of burnt hair and the ground was littered with cauterized flesh chunks. The gore was not graphically rendered, I just get into it, you know?

I love this game , been playing and replaying this for years, my favorite thing is everything about it , the discovery in the story and how many variations is what drew me in , the ability to become incredibly powerful as a sith or jedi , the characters were fully executed for individual experience, ive played this game in so many different ways, I really hope they can match the level of story telling, the cgi will always get better over time in the gaming world , but it'll be almost impossible to match the level of character development and storyline development of this game , in my opinion, it's simply the best

I've played both KOTOR games at least six times. Light and Dark for both games on Xbox, KOTOR2 on PC with restored content and I'm playing KOTOR1 on PC now. These games are incredible and while I give the first on a lot of flak, I'd never go back on the experience I had

AotD: For me, it's probably helping the people in need when it comes to paying their taxes, avenging their loved ones, and just encouraging them to keep on swoop racing despite their initial misgivings. Always loved never hurting to help in RPGs and other games, you know... my most recent example being that Google Doodle Tokyo Olympics game. Finished all the tasks there, and ended the game on a high note. The "create your own character" system is something I will never forget. Being a Jedi Consular (my first playthrough) made me get additional info while acting like Obi-Wan sure is fun, while being surprisingly deadly in combat if that need arises.

My favorite Memory of KotoR is slightly negative. I was playing through the game just like all of my friends were, but I was farther ahead. And Joe, he looked at the screen watching me play for a bit then said, "Your playing as Revan." Keep in mind, he hadn't beaten the game yet, I actually was farther in the game than he was. He actually didn't know but some how things added up and he just blurted it out. And at first I denied it, thinking that didn't make sense. Then I sat there and pondered it for a bit more. Little past events started to connect in my head and it completely blew my mind. Later that night, I got official confirmation from the game but I already knew what I was going to see. Till this day, I still rag on Joe for "spoiling" it for me. lol

For me there was the big twist obviously but beyond that it was the first game I ever truly fell in love with the characters. I was 11 when it came out and I had played Halo and a few other xbox games. Before that had my N64 and played Legend of Zelda and other classics but KotOR was the first time I ever realised how attached I could get to game characters. The flirty teasing in Bastilla's romance, listening to Canderous' awesome stories, Jolee just being a loveable grumpy old man. KotOR is the game that made me love video games. Aspyr better get this remake right. Feel like the remake should've gone to Archetype as it's the studio with the original KotOR writers. Just means there is even more pressure on Aspyr to do a good job. Pleeeeeease let them do a good job.

Short answer: Yes. Longer answer: Most certainly should you play it. It is like you said it is one of the greatest games ever made and I will forever keep it close to heart. Should the graphics scare you off or make you hesitate, there are mods to "smoothen" the look of.. well everything. As for my favorite moment(s) I have a quite a few but the first one that comes to mind is when you're helping out with an investigation on Dantooine, and one of your master detective dialogue options for "knowing" who the guilty suspect is: "Fat people always lie!"

Honestly what made this game so great to me with the freedom of choice. Giving you the option of being a dark Jedi or a light one was amazing to me. Also being able to learn about the different types of Jedi's and being thrown in head first into their theology. Also the companions were so much fun too travel with. This game was truly groundbreaking for its time and introduced me into my favorite video game genre. I honestly feel like this game set up the roadmap for games like Mass effect, dragon age, and so much more. I will agree and say that the gameplay hasn't aged well but the story and companions are some of the best still today. I'm just hoping that the timed exclusive of the remake will come to other consoles and that they will stay true to the story. But I do have a lot of concerns about this remake and have been a little salty with Xbox for letting Kotor leave their platform. Luckily I have a few friends who have PlayStations who will let me play it but it sucks that it's leaving my console a choice. 😑 It really is one of my favorite games of all times.

I think it’s totally worth playing today, the gameplay may seem dated and so are graphics as well but the story, character, quests and world building the game does is the reason why this game is arguably the best Star Wars game ever. Heck I typically go back to it on PC one every year and it doesn’t get old to me.

Best star wars game ever made back in 2003! As for the graphics now 18 years later you can add mods to the game to improve EVERYTHING! I played this game 1000s of times and I have to admit adding mods changed the game for the better :) like you can get better looking robes, updated looks to the weapons and armour even updated looks to the world, npcs (non playable characters)and playable characters. You can even add script mods to change dialog options and scenes.
