I have the “Polar” Explorer II 226570 50th anniversary model. I put my name down at my local AD at the end of April 2021 and took delivery July 2021. Such an amazing watch. I feel this is so underrated for what it is especially since it shares the same movement as the Pepsi GMT. Glad it’s not as hyped as this is such an amazing watch and pops in white. Best Rolex you can get in my personal opinion.

Hi, just curious on the bracelet, is it comfortable? Does the extension help or is it too big when your write swells? Thanks for the feedback as I'm considering this watch.

@@marketingsuccess2637I’m trying to get this reference as well. I have the yacht master with the same oyster bracelet and it’s great. The half link does help when your wrist swells or gets sweaty. Hope this helps

Around here one AD told me at least 2 years but they stated that I was really not their priority, then changed to another that stated 6 months and I believe them.

Great video, well done. You just missed that the bracelet lug width increase from 21mm to 22mm, and wider clasp. I believe you also missed that the anti-reflective coating on the underside of both the crystal and the cyclops. To be fair, Tim Mosso covered several differences that were missed by almost everyone.

Thanks Jacko. The thing is that in the high end watchmaking, the anti reflecting coating on both sides is there in mostly every watch by default, so I usually do not mention that, because of that. Thank you for watching

I was unfamiliar with Mr. Yulchuraev until now, really enjoyed the video, and have subscribed to his channel. I have a 216570 and love it. I also have a 16550 with one of the creme dials that resulted from Rolex using a faulty varnish in early production of the white version of that reference. Because the reference 16550 creme dial is by far the most collectible and valuable white Explorer II ever produced (generally $25,000 USD and up), I think it should have been mentioned in this otherwise terrific recap of Explorer II history.

Interestingly the two references of the Explorer II that have become highly collectible are the two oldest: the reference 1655 “Steve McQueen” (which he supposedly never wore) and the reference 16550 “creme” dial. In actuality the 16550 was a vast improvement over the 1655 in terms of quality and function: the case size was increased to 40mm; the power reserve was increased to 42 hours; the crystal was changed from acrylic to sapphire; a new 3085 caliber movement was introduced which had a quick-set date, a hacking seconds hand to allow for precision setting, and, perhaps most importantly, an independently adjustable GMT hand, allowing the wearer to actually track multiple time zones. The 16550 is quite a remarkable watch. And if you can find one with a consistent and warm creme colored dial, unreplentished tritium lume, white gold hands and hour marker surrounds (these were changed to black beginning in about 1987, and are black to this day), and a “rail” dial (where the “c” in the word “certified” is directly under the “c” in the word “chronometer”) you will be able to enjoy wearing one of the most collectible Rolex watches ever made (a 16550 with all of the above features would today be worth around $40,000 USD).

Like it! Don’t like how Rolex sells a lot to people who’s only intentions are to flip the watch and ignore those who just want one to wear and appreciate. That I don’t like.

great video - thanks. I recently picked up a 226570 myself (new from my AD) and I notice that the crystal does not have the Rolex crown engraved on it. I wonder if that is a general move now on all new Rolex sports watches?

I have a 226570 and it most definitely has the crown etched in the crystal...it sits right about the crown on the dial (between "swiss" and "made").

Mine was very hard to find. Needed my wifes dental loops to see it and had to shine light at a certain angle from the side to cast a shadow. There it was. It's much smaller than I expected, and it's very hard to see against the white dial. The AD told me that they are actually bubbles between 2 layers of Sapphire, keep looking...

For me, the Explorer 1 is the one to go. I do not like to have a date complication in the first place but I totally dislike the magnifier, as it is usual to Rolex watches. Basically I like the brand, but as it is hard to get your hands on such a watch for MSRP, I am not really out in the market to get one. I know the Explorers are meant to be "Toolwatches" (if you can refer to such an expensive watch by that term!), but in my point of view, a watch of this grade (with a mechanical movement) should have a seethrough bottom. I do not get the point of mechanic watches, which are hiding the most interesting parts to their owners. But thats just my opinion. Same always kept me from buying Omega Speedmaster. I think there are some versions with glass bottom out, but usually it is solid steel. Good video - like!

Looks identical to the previous model. You can't tell the difference except for the crown that indicates the new movement.
