I have my first shark lock on the way! A titanium ad20. Ive had a few in for sharpening, but I've never actually been interested in owning one. That snapping shut is called "bias to close." Basically, the lock makes the knife want to be closed. Its generally considered an added safety feature. The Szabo Folder, from Spyderco, has a unique clutch type mechanism that adds closed bias to the compression lock. Kinda stupid, and it makes it a huge pain to reassemble but its a great example of the one-off weirdness Spyderco is capable of.
