Me as an artist that knows about color theory and that your own skin undertones play a huge part in how the foundation appears! This foundations seems to be for people with more yellow undertoned dark skin, meanwhile you have more of a red. The foundation looks greenish because of the contrast of your own natural undertones. Everyone has different undertones. My older sister has yellow undertones while I have more pink/red undertones. Because of this her skin looks more “dead” sometimes especially in her feet. For a dark skinned beauty that doesn’t have the same undertones as you, it will be more of a match. Unfortunately not a match for you, doesn’t mean it wont match for others! Does this company own more dark foundations with other undertones? One more on the red tone spectrum

It’s idiotic to think that everyone has the same skin tone AND undertones. Her issue is she picked an olive undertone. She needs to pick the same foundation BUT without that undertone. She bought a foundation that wasn’t personally HER skin type. It’s like me buying a brown foundation, doesn’t matter which brown, just a brown, and being upset over what I bought because it didn’t match my skin undertone. Really, it was bad luck and less care on my part to be upset for everyone over something I picked that wasn’t personally my match, but for someone else. You need to understand that not every shade will cater to you, same with undertonal colors. She just needs the same foundation with different undertonal colors. It doesn’t mean that it isn’t tested on anyone, it surely matches for a good load of people. Just not for her and similar undertonal people Edit: grammar mistake

It's obvious that this wasn't tested because there are deep olive complexions, but this shade claims to be COOL! Olive features tones of green, yellow, or appear like a warm leaning neutral. Foundations with cool tones, pink/red undertones appear grey on olive skin. I have a medium olive complexion and it's very rare to see TRUE olive toned foundations. Brands don't create any past the light/tan category. I will say that olive toned/yellow foundations will look grey on true neutral complexions so they didn't formulate this well. *EDIT:* Please read my comments on this thread explaining how color is categorized in the beauty world. *2nd EDIT:* I use they/them pronouns

Different brands have different definitions of cool and warm. It’s all relative. You can’t ever go based on that alone. @@user-lf2ys1yt8x I'm speaking from the experience of how cosmetics are labelled as someone who works at Sephora and uses their Color IQ system when doing skin tone scans. It doesn't make sense when compared to art and developing colors in terms of hue, saturation and tone. I did art school so it's not intuitive to use the beauty world's separate language of color identification when brands don't have standards for what undertone labels have to mean. I have the perspective from someone who is both an artist and has worked in beauty for years. I understand that ":)" from a passive aggressive tone, and I'd do the same if I hadn't come to understand that there are no color standards in the same way that, for example, a "Prussian blue" paint would be at least similar across brands/manufacturers because complexion color is so complex! Different parts of our face carry different types of melanin, appear differently based on blood vessels, hair, translucency, etc. From my life experience in beauty, I am olive, which based on my access to makeup and the labels used, means I am a medium, warm leaning neutral. In the art world, I am blends of yellow, pink, blue, purple, and green, all overwhelmingly cool colors.

She knows both of those, but she does this to see if brands are actually including darker shades for darker skin ppl. She has more videos like this😅 I hope I don’t sound rude or anything but her trying the darkest shades from makeup brands seems to be most of her content from what I have been watching. Plus, that foundation on her is literally green! No one has that skin tone or an undertone for this to even exist! No matter how dark, it’s clear to see that they just fudged up on their end when it comes to certain shades of makeup. I’m not saying that it’s not a usable foundation but maybe it’s just not for her? I know ppl with the right undertone could use this. But I believe the point of her video is that it’s not too inclusive to all ranges of dark skin- which she is right, SHEIN doesn’t have too many dark foundations for darker skin ppl but maybe they will later on?

Yeah, mostly it's undertone isn't nearly as vibrant as hers. it could be saved with those foundation mixers you can buy. They come in the primary colors red blue and yellow plus black and white. With that combination of pigments you can save any foundation especially if it's almost there.

I have the same problem too. I am olive and neutral foundations appear orange on me. Doesn't mean that it's not neutral, it just means it's not the right undertone for me

It's the wrong undertone. Plain and simple. However, I'm glad there is a dark olive shade available for the people who are that color and have a hard time finding their perfect shade in foundation.

Hey since you're studying cosmetology i wanna ask that why do companies just don't make dark foundations and stuff? Like why is it so hard for them to just make a rlly dark foundation. Does it have to do anything with making process? Is it hard to make dark colours? Or are they just lazy about it. I'm genuinely curious
@thecompilation7753
9 ай бұрын
@@dhaatri014 I believe because they're just lazy about it, it's easier to mix a darker shade but a lot of big companies don't think about the skin tone and think all darker skinned people have the same skin tone.

the foundation doesn’t work for you because you’re cool toned, but it would likely work for someone very dark skinned with neutral/olive tones. i say this is a win because as an mua, i often struggle to find neutral/olive shades for very dark skin tones. but this video just goes to show you: undertone is very important when choosing a foundation shade!

@@livewellwitheds6885 it’s labeled cool on the website, but you can see it’s clearly got a greenish tint to it so it’s definitely olive. the brand should be properly labeling undertones on the foundation, but a decent amount of brands don’t unfortunately 😩
@FT-vv2lo

@@Gloomyraindrop no. cool tone refers to pink/red undertones. warm tone refers to warm/orange undertones. olive falls under neutral and has a greenish tint. greyish tints or anything between warm and cool falls under neutral as well. i studied color theory in beauty school and also in sephora beauty advisor trainings. this informations is all a quick google search away as well. as i said in my previous comment, many brands label undertones incorrectly in their foundations.

Girl you can’t just say the foundation is not for dark skin girls just because it didn’t work for your skin. Not everyone had the same undertones as you. It probably was tested on a model but the mode, just had different undertones.
