Finally. I've been trying to make this argument to people for years. We celebrate reformed gang members and ex-skinheads for changing their violent ways, and speaking out against hate. Yet we condemn people who apologize for a mistake 30 years ago.

Tudor Bourne that’s part of my point. Right now, leaving requires what feels like sacrifice. That’s not what I mean by “just going to leave.” They’re not going to summon up some inner strength and discipline. They’re just gonna leave. They’ll do that when others start to leave en masse. Some people will start leaving when they feel pressured to conform or shut up. Others will leave because the opportunity to build a Roganesque audience is gone. Others will leave for other personal reasons. And then, it’s just not gonna be appealing for most people, and they’ll just go somewhere else.

According to Harris they're always red because of an inevitable chain of events brought about by randomness working upon everything throughout all time to cause a compressed ball of everything which came from nowhere to explode for no reason that we know, at this point. And there's no freewill because everything is determined in a deterministic universe characterized by randomness, but you should tell your children (if you have them, breeder) that their choices have meaning because they can't possibly understand the reality of the fictional nature of freewill, yet. I legitimately worry so much for our future (like for kids these days) and social media. We've put them into a grand social experiment and are just finding out how damaging it all is. I mean we evolved in small groups and still struggle to live in cities peacefully and we've been at that for thousands and thousands of years......yet almost overnight we've gone from cities to being connected with literally half the planet's population with just a few clicks.....and 24/7........ I think unless we find some miraculous cure (or a huge trend of responsible parenting takes hold where kids get little to no screen time and no social media until mature enough for it) we're are going to see depression, other mental health issues and suicides reach epidemic levels......because it'll be manufactured mental health issues, and we developed amazing technology to promote it...

I feel the 'culture war' (or however you want to characterise it), has, on the whole, done a disservice to the left. Admittedly difficult discussions which DO have a history of prejudice or oppression have lost all hope of nuance. This has meant that those on the left who have a predominant concern with class struggle and the fundamentals of economics and power find that discussion being sidelined by 'with us or against us' culture war issues. Many apolitical or even socially Conservative members of the working class who may actually be allies on the matter of elitism and inequality are being driven to denounce 'the left' in general or socialist/social democratic ideas because of the manner in which the culture war schism has divided people on matters which are largely not about economic interests. That is not to say that the left does not have a consistent narrative on race or gender which is historically informed and is connected to ideals of justice (it does), but by demonising more conservative reactions, rather than gently accommodating and challenging the popular 'common sense' arguments often offered in opposition, it has completely alienated potential class allies who perhaps already feel legitimate anger at their own powerlessness . When they find that, on high profile, media driven 'culture war' issues (often, it should be noted, promulgated by centrist liberal politicians who are anything but left wing on economic matters), they are simply dismissed as small-minded (and understandably find an irony in that), anger in turn is directed against 'leftists'. Towards their cultural enemies, not their class enemies. How convenient for our rulers!

The more I think about it, it's less a race issue and more a left and right issue. Race is just the proxy or the excuse to catch one side slipping. If the accuser or overseer is aligned to the left, and the accused is aligned to the right, you will see a stiffer punishment.. and vice versa.

please for research purposes - can anyone tell a celebrity etc who has been cancelled who has done something that you as a normal person if you did the alleged for lack of better term “cancel worthy crime” you would not suffer similar consequences in relation to your standing in life ?

It’s not about overcoming or moving forward or progress. This group is not interested in justice but power. This is an excuse to promote themselves into places they see accessible to them as a result of the performance behind this narrative. It is an almost completely ingenuous movement t which is also very sad given that the foundations of the rhetoric are actual issues that do deserve serious attention and repair.

I don’t think it’s always recreational. I think it is often weaponized and abused to eliminate whatever opposition you see in that person.

Wow how dull you must be. So again.... has the government tried to stiffle your free speech ? Because twitter banning you, or anyone for that matter, isn't against the first ammendment.... Private companies can set their own rules and terms... If i owned a busniess, and you walked in screaming 'fuck fuck shit fuck' i have every right to kick you out/have you physically removed... Seems like you just like crying about the left wing... i bet it consumes your life and that is just sad. Far left is social justice warrior nonsense, far right is neo-conservatism, blatant racism, the KKK, i could go on... but people like you write 100 youtube comments about the left, and not one about the far right... pretty telling shit bro. Pathetic.

I’m not saying that racism is good, but I am saying that we need to take the wind out of this anti-racist witchhunt. I’m tired of it being the sacred cow it is. We’re living in more diverse times than ever.

Rogan had a previous guest that explained the culture from his research. Haidt clearly outlined the psychology behind the behavior. Generalized to one sentence, there is status granted to social justice wins. It would benefit the podcast if Rogan can sew together these different ideas and analysis together of the current culture. I am a little surprised Sam Harris has not read Haidts books and the very insightful analysis and explanation it provides. It really is good research.
