This vase beautifully combines the free undulations of the Rococo and refined and colourful decorations. The foot, bottom and top of the vase are built up entirely of rocailles.

The cover resembles shortened Chinese robes that drape over the edges. Further, the decoration on this vase imitates the color palette of Meissen porcelain wares.
In literature we find that this model must have been popular for a very short time as this type of vases is so rare. There is only one other set of vases of the same shape, but with different decoration, and also marked for Jacobus Halder known with matching covers in the collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. I counted and that pair is illustrated in at least three leading Delftware publications. A pair of vases of a similar shape and decoration, but lacking its covers, also marked for Halder is in the collection of the Kunstmuseum in The Hague. Other objects marked for Halder, such as candlesticks and coffeepots are also decorated in the highly fashionable rococo style.
This vase, made in Delft around 1765, was illustrated in the catalogue of the Oude Kunst- en Antiekbeurs in Delft in 1978.
On the base we see that it is marked A/IH for Jacobus Adriaensz. Halder, who briefly owned The Greek A factory from 1765 to 1768.
