I take a guess to say that I am about in the middle when it comes to scoring points on this topic. The hardest thing that I have found is to let go, especially of past mistakes, I have been for over 40yrs angry at myself for making certain mistakes back then so many years ago. But those mistakes have had a ripple effect all my life they come back to haunt you. It is only now at this stage of life that I feel I am starting to grasp the fact of self forgiveness as a very crucial and important topic.

I agree that the "thumbs down" on KZitem should go. It is not necessary to say everything you think, so if you've chosen to watch a program and it turns out not to be your cup of tea then simply change the channel and search for something else--but adding a possibly hurtful comment is just selfish

I recently learned about our “amygdala” they are two (left and right side) almond shaped clusters of nuclei located deep and medically within the temporal lobes of our brains. The amygdala are part of our ability to control and manage our emotions in a healthy way. Sometimes our amygdala gets damaged by head trauma, alcohol abuse, or drug abuse that results in mental illness. For example: If one is smaller than the other the result is often “bi-polar”.

Avoiding toxic people is preferable to having to deal with them but sometimes they are relatives or coworkers. Shutting down your own emotions to toxic people isn't always healthy. In one case it became vital for my personal well being to point out how a particularly toxic person made me feel. We now are good friends! So if a toxic person is someone easily avoided, then just ignore them. But if it's a person you've got to or want to deal with it is best to gently draw your line in the sand. Yes, they may be toxic because they are unhappy but you shouldn't let their unhappiness make you unhappy. Tell them how they make you feel.

Really good video, thanks Sandra. Also, I think emotionally intelligent people are teachable. They know they don't know it all. I became a Christian as an adult with no church background or Bible knowledge. As I learned to put Biblical teachings into practice, I learned a lot of these things. Makes sense, as God is concerned with developing good character and helping us drop poor characteristics.

I agree that there are trolls out there that are trying to bring us down but if you don't know what you are doing wrong you can not fix it . Sandra, I recently discovered your channel and subscribed. I am a retired nurse working many years in Behavioral Health. It is heartwarming to hear your information is in align with information I learned and taught patients. I have known I have a higher emotional IQ for many years. I have always sought out information on topics that thought I would never use but ironically later in life the information was useful. I always looked at change a challenge and a learning opportunity. My brother tells me " You just step off the end of the limb". I share with him I have Faith in my decisions and if I fail then I will know that I can't do whatever it was I attempted. I am not afraid to get out of the comfortable zone box. Keep the great videos and information coming. I am GRATEFUL i found you. I am 68....just a number to me. A Grateful Journal and Prayer Box have been parts of my daily routine since about 1990. I have score of 16.

Wow I’m just now coming across your videos in 2022 lol but how timeless and authentic they are. I love your transparency and how elegant you carry yourself not just by your outward appearance because you are beautiful but by your inward appearance that is more precious than gold and silver. Inward beauty lasts a lifetime 🌹

I can think of something else. Don't worry about what others think. Whether it be what you wear or what you enjoy doing. We're all different. No better or no worse. New subscriber here. Really enjoying your videos. I'm over 60 so its difficult to relate to other youtubers. P.S. I have to admit. I really hate change. 😕

Hi Sandra, i stumbled upon this video. It's so true iff you have the skills to " work" with youre EQ, you see and feel a lot more and able to embrase youre self, no toxic in youre life, you can spot a liar or a non true person in an instant. I Always go with my "sense" because it never lies to me. Greetings from Holland

I call the ability to see the character in people as a sixth sense about who they really are! Thanks for finding me today and watching. Hello to Holland! ❤️. Sandra

OMG! As soon as you said, ‘You don’t let the negative self-talk rule your life’ I started crying 😢 Yes I’m very self-critical. Thank you for this! I’m overall physically healthy at 63, but emotionally?

Another great video, Sandra! I think every day living and learning is what gives us key points of our emotional intelligence. As we age, we live more expiriences and can balance things a little better. Thanks for sharing with us!
