Much shorter version... · Late 19th century - Motor racing becomes all the rage with France and the British Isles being the main points of focus in Europe · Dawn of the 20th century - Britons think racing is too dangerous, they banned it in the big isles but the Isle of Man does not share that · 1907 - First edition of the Isle of Man TT (racing started in 1904 for cars, then for motorbikes in 1905 in a different format) · 1932 - Jimmie Simpson averages over 80mph in a lap · 1949 - The FIM Road Racing World Championship starts, the Isle of Man TT is the first of six rounds · 1950 - Geoff Duke averages over 90mph in a lap · 1957 - Bob McIntyre averages over 100mph in a lap · 1966 - The great 500cc duel between Giacomo Agostini (MV Agusta) and Mike Hailwood (Honda) · 1968 - The FIM enforces a limit of cylinders per class (4 for 500cc, 3 for 350cc, 2 for 250cc, 1 for 125cc and 80cc/50cc), which makes Honda quit · 1972 - Safety concerns and a larger number of rounds for the World Championship means this is the final Isle of Man TT with all the Grand Prix starts (the RFME, Spanish Federation, made riders skip it starting in 1969) · 1976 - John Williams averages over 110mph in a lap (1st record not in a 500cc bike), last round for the World Championship, Joey Dunlop (eventual all-time great) debuts · 1977 - The FIM transforms the old 750cc championship into the Formula TT (modified production bikes racing in a combination of roads, streets and proper racetracks) · 1989 - Steve Hislop averages over 120mph in a lap · 1990 - Formula TT dies and the Isle of Man TT stops being part of any championship... unless you count the unofficial Duke Road Racing Rankings · 1992 - Carl Fogarty (Yamaha FZR750) and Steve Hislop (Norton NRS588, a rotary-engine bike) battle it out · 1997 - Manx TT Superbikes (arcade machine) is released (home version includes real bikes) · 2000 - David Jefferies averages over 125mph in a lap, last Isle of Man TT for Joey Dunlop before his death racing in Estonia · 2005 - TT Superbikes (PS2) is released with real bikes plus the full Snaefell Mountain Course and Billown Circuit · 2007 - Centenary edition, John McGuinness averages over 130mph in a lap, TT Superbikes Real Road Racing Championship (PS2) is released with 6 road racing courses and the Macau GP · 2008 - TT Legends (PS2) is released with 6 road racing courses and several classic bikes from 1950 to 2007 including some legendary ones · 2019 - 100th Isle of Man TT if everything goes to plan

The TT is such a fascinating race. After reading about it over the years and watching videos of it I'd love to see a race in person...and maybe ride the route a couple times. Thanks for another great RCR documentary. Unfortunately for me, your video was the final catalyst for a game purchase I had been considering over the past couple weeks. I had already been feeling some major nostalgia for the Tourist Trophy game on PS2, what with the impending new Gran Turismo release. Then this video comes out. So, after a short motorcycle ride to Gamestop, I find myself with a pre-owned copy of Ride 2 waiting to be popped into the PS4. Hopefully it's actually good...it was worth $30 not to go through endless boxes to find my copy of Tourist Trophy.
