Issue 5 (“Magic Harmonies”) is a hefty and cosmic issue. We get to know a forgotten 19th century utopian visionary, Edward Postlethwayt Page, who Thomas Jefferson called “insane.” In coversation with artist and folk historian Clayton Patterson, we explore the 20th century astral music and tattoos of unsung Lower East Side artist, printmaker, and magus Richard Tyler. This is followed by an unpublished essay from the late composer, Keith Patchel, who applied Tyler’s zodiacal music charts to his own music. And composer/astrologer Amber Wolfe Rounds provides us with an astrological bulletin exploring the current rhythms of Venus.

N.B. The interview with NYC artist/historian Clayton Patterson is presented here as a typed transcript, though it has also been provided as an audio interview at the AMP website. Keith Patchel’s essay will be featured in Clayton’s forthcoming book, In the Shadows, Volume Two, and is digitally offered here with permission.
