Marcos, Yes you can. It will start to download it and play it for you. Works really well actually.

Thanks for the comment. iTunes Match looks at the songs in your library and matches those. It doesn't find songs that are deleted. Now if the songs still show in your library and can't be located that means they are probably on another drive or something and once find them you just link them back up. Do you know you deleted them? If you purchased those songs on iTunes there is the purchased area that you can get them back from.

You can use iTunes cards as long as you add them to your account before you purchase it. You should see your credit in the side bar of the Mac App Store.

Louis, Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching! Those movies you see in iTunes 11 are only the movies you have purchased from iTunes. It works just like the purchased section of iTunes for music. You can redownload your purchases. Apple does not yet have a service to upload movies to the cloud and is not included in iTunes Match. Hope that helps:).

@ANDY1976XXX Thanks for the feedback! I have a couple more iTunes Match videos coming. I just published one on understanding the match results and getting a few things to work initially. The third one will cover how to convert your songs to the higher bit rate and some things to do to get the match to work better. There are a few mysteries to how iTunes Match works that I too am still trying to figure out.

Hi there Todd. I was very excited, having watched your video re iTunes Match. Unfortunately, I've gone through the process of buying it and trying it and it seems stuck near the end of step 1 and will not move on to step 2. I have a library of about 6500 songs, so was expecting step 1 to be completed by about 90 minutes, given your experience. Have you come across this and, if so, is there a solution? Otherwise, it's a bloody expensive way to try to solve the DRM problem? :O)

Depends on the day and time:). I have cable at the middle tier. I edit the time in the videos if you are thinking things uploaded fast.

Yes sometimes iTunes Match will do that from time to time. As long as everything is matching or uploading you should be fine.

@poprince1996 Yes you will be able to download anything that matches with iTunes for free right from within your library. Just follow the third video in my iTunes Match series to see how it works.

I don't think you can sync from your phone and then back down to your iTunes account as iTunes Match replaces your music library on your phone so there would be no music to match. You would need to transfer the songs to iTunes first and then sign up for Match.

Hi Todd, I have songs on my iPhone, more and different songs on my iPad, and more and different songs on my PC with iTunes. This service sounds like a good way to sync all of the files across the devices. If I just want to do this once, is there a free or better way to do it?
@ToddOlthoff

Thanks for the comment. If you are only looking to sync the music across your devices and do not need the match features you could consider using Google's music service which allows you to upload all of your music for free and then stream it to all of your devices. You would still need to sync your iPad and iPhone to your iTunes on your PC so you have it all in one place and then use the uploader to keep everything in the cloud. Hope that helps:).

Thanks for the comment. Any songs you have downloaded and are on your Mac will stay, you lose access to upgrading your songs & to downloading or streaming your library if you cancel. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the comment. You can restart it at any time and it will pick up where it left off. If you are not seeing any progress restarting will get it going again. Hope that helps:).

In answer to my own question below and to reassure anyone else who is "worried," by an apparent "lack of progress," having had the thing running for about 12 hours, I think the trick is to be patient. I restarted my P.C. this morning and iTunes and made sure that the "iCloud Status," column was displayed and looked up all of my "protected," songs, and all but 100 of them now show as "purchased." As Todd has said, I downloaded a "trial," track, that I wasn't too worried about and it worked a treat..and I checked that it was DRM free by tranferring it over to my Android Phone, which is what this is all about for me. So, I now have about 400 songs "converted," with about 100 showing as "waiting." I'm assuming as time passes that these will also be matched and show as purchased.. I hope! :O)

Thanks for the comment. I'm glad you got it all sorted out. It does take some time especially the first time and, depending on the traffic (especially during the holiday zone) it could take longer. Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I'm sure it will help others as well:).

Todd Olthoff HI there Todd. I may've spoken too soon. The whole thing seems to have "frozen," with about 117 "protected," songs in "waiting," status, along with a few hundred of my other songs. This seems to be a very common issue dating back years, on the iTunes discussions forums, where people seem to be very hacked off with Match. I can't actually turn "Match," off, as the option is "greyed out," in the Store options. I'm still hoping that it'll sort itself out, but am not optimistic, at the moment. I started the process @ 8 p.m. Friday night (GMT) and it's still "going," or not, as the case may be. I was considering contacting Apple Support, but it seems you have to jump through hoops in order to do that.

You could try quitting iTunes and starting over to see if that works. I had to do that early on but haven't had any issues lately.

Todd Olthoff Hi there Todd. I've done that a few times and also signed out and back in again, when most of my "protected," songs, a few of which, I'd redownloaded from the Cloud and were ready to be redownloaded again, turned back into "protected," so, after repeating the process, last night, I spent a few hours making sure that I downloaded them all to "purchased," 256, like you said, That still leaves 117 that refuse to budge and God knows how many others from my library with the "waiting," cloud hanging over them. It's now been four days! At some point, I'll get fed up, abandon that whole thing and either rebuy the tracks from the 117 that I can't do without, or find a DRM converter and just get on with it! :O)

It looks like Apple discontinued iTunes Match. Now instead of having the 24 Dollar fee a year, they have brought Apple music where they demand a monthly fee.

Thanks for the comment. I think it is still available as it still shows how to access it here: support.apple.com/en-us/HT204146. You do get iTunes Match automatically with an iTunes Music subscription though. Hope that helps!

correct. But for that monthly fee you gain access to much much more. iTunes Match, or something similar, appears to still be used for owned tracks. From there you also get access to the entire music library of 40million + tracks. It's like owning nearly everything that exists (similar to Spotify). I realize this may be more than you want but this is the direction Apple determined. For me ... it works out well, especially the family plan which covers up to 5 people at a good rate.

also - I think these videos remain of value in that the match function of Apple Music is very similar. That said - I would not mind seeing a brief series on Apple Music.

It's still available, and I just subscribed. But I'm bummed because I know that in another year or two, I'll be well past that 25,000 song limit. Hope Apple raises the limit soon.
