My favorite actor of all time, Jack Lemmon, merited this honor so profoundly. I cannot overstate my admiration and reverence for this delightful man.

Jack Lemmon was about as good as they were. Never made a bad movie in his life and a whole lot of classics. Wonderful actor.

It was the right recognition to one of the greatest actors, for me the greatest of all time, for his extraordinary ability to play comic and dramatic roles, funny and heartwarming at the same time. As an Italian I did not know this ceremony and I am grateful that it has been published here. I remember Jack in Italy paired with Marcello Mastroianni directed by Ettore Scola, in an unforgettable film, which I return to see again when I miss his acting. Jack has been a wonderful man and actor.

They missed in opportunity at the end to have Walter Matthau come out and say something about Jack. That to me is the only thing this tribute was missing.

It would have been wonderful. Matthau was dealing with a lot of health issues from 1993-2000 and had a big surgery in 1995 so that could be the reason. He did though give a short but wonderful tribute to Lemmon at Lemmon's AFI Life Achievement Award.

If you watch the second part of this clip, watch Lemon's face as he hears that Hasty Pudding Club members have come from Cambridge MA to honor him. He looks truly touched and honored by their performance!

@@margeshilling7983 Marge, the 1st time I saw the movie I just couldn't believe what I had heard, that it would end in such a clever dialogue between Joe E Brown and Jack. About 40 years later I remember I laughed and laughed and laughed like never before or since at the last scene of a movie. 1-derful memories !!!

Just watched The China Syndrome after searching for “Michael Douglas films ranked”. Unbelievable how many good old movies and forgotten actors are still out there to see. If anyone got a good movie recommendation from the 60s-80s please recommend it to me.

Wow - that was a huge error! The 'Some Like It Hot' credit line indicated that the movie was from 1939 - it's 1959!! How did that ever get through?!

The date of Some Like It Hot is incorrect. The film is from 1959, not 1939. Lemmon died of bladder cancer on June 27, 2001 at the age of 76. He was an American treasure.
