I do my own film location searches on the weekends with my teenagers and I watch ALL these type videos and yours are honestly THE BEST! People don’t realize how hard is to find these places and then track all them down - it’s a ton of work! They usually aren’t in the same area and LA is sprawling. I’ve looked for that Elevator sign at Del Amo forever because those parking lots are huge and it’s super confusing because it doesn’t look like it used to at all. Really, really outstanding work! I’m always super impressed because you show stuff that NO ONE else shows. FYI the Dirk Diggler house is right down the street from the Jackie Brown one - who knew they were in the same cinematic universe lol.

Great work covering these locations, man! As much as I miss the old Del Amo mall from my childhood, the place was definitely dying a slow death before the big makeover... When I was in high school, I can remember the Montgomery Ward section being a completely abandoned ghost town before it got torn down. So nostalgia aside, I'm glad they were able to breathe some new life into the mall and it seems to be alive and thriving now.

One thing I appreciate about Tarantino is that he loves showcasing LA but I got to say I'm mostly bummed out the food court in the mall isn't there anymore. It was a nice touch not only in Jackie Brown but in Valley Girl where Deborah Foreman is feeding Nicolas Cage. 💔

The shopping center Jackie is driving by with the Office Depot was called The Old Time Mall. I haven't been to Del Amo mall in a while I didn't know about the renovations. I did some electrical work at the Opp street location in Wilmington. This was an experience, this took place about four years after the movie came out. The house was extremely ran down and filthy. The owner had not paid the electricity bill and the power was tuned off for about eight months. He had ten dogs living there and one of them knocked over a candle that started a small fire, which did some damage to the back bedroom and part of the bathroom. I was called in by a real estate agent I did a few jobs for, he had to pay the electricity bill so we could assess the electrical damage. Upon entering the house for the first time I immediately took the Dracula pose (covering my face with the inside of my elbow) in the attempt to ward off the odor. I'll spare you the rest of what I saw, but lets just say Quentin could have returned and filmed a horror movie. It was a difficult job due to the conditions and upon leaving there were only seven dogs left, three had died within a week.

I was at Del Amo on one of the days they were filming there. I remember overhearing from someone that it was for "some Robert De Niro movie." I didn't know that that movie would eventually turn out to be one of my favorite movies ever.
