Track 6 from their fourth album "Straight Shooter" released in 1972 copyright ABC Records. It was recorded at Quadrafonic Sound Studios in Nashville and was produced by the band. Joe Walsh left the band after their previous album was released and formed Barnstorm. Vocalist Roy Kenner and guitarist Domenic Troiano, who had played together in the Canadian band Bush joined as new members. They became the primary songwriters and brought a considerable funk and jazz influence to most songs. It sounds great but such a drastic change in style didn't go over well with their fans and critics. The album received below average reviews and reached No. 58 in the U.S. and No. 39 in Canada. Written by Dale Peters & Domenic Troiano and produced by James Gang. Featuring:
Roy Kenner - Lead vocals & percussion
Domenic Troiano - Lead, rhythm & acoustic guitars & background vocals, lead vocal on "Getting Old"
Dale Peters - Bass, percussion & background vocals
Jim Fox - Drums, percussion, keyboards & background vocals
Special Guest:
Sheldon Kurland - Violin
Glen Spreen - String arrangements
Sittin' in this lonely room
I always did too much too soon
Rick said that you'd come around
Ya ain't the biggest man in town
Take the choice, you got to learn
It's always up to you
Find someone, a really good friend
To help to see you through
Line it up and shine it bright
(I'll tell you why)
Night is day and day is night
It takes a blind man's eyes to see
(I'll tell you why)
They're colorblind, you must agree, yeah
Everybody says that they'd really
Like to be on the rail
Say they'll help me out any old time
But they never tell you when
Hey, hey, man learns to hate and learns to love
(I'll tell you why)
He learns to push and he learns to shove
(I'll tell you why)
He learns to laugh and he learns to cry 'cause
(I'll tell you why)
He learns to live and he learns to die
(I'll tell you why)
Got to live your life like it's
The only one that you've ever had
You got to tell someone that you love
So they won't be sad
(I'll tell you why, I'll tell you why)
You got to sidetrack yourself my friend
(I'll tell you why)
Whoa, ho, ho, ho, the doctor can't do it for you
(I'll tell you why)
Make up your own mind, where you gonna go?
(I'll tell you why)
Nobody can do it, do it for ya
(I'll tell you why)
(I'll tell you why)
(I'll tell you why)
Well, don't you wait on nobody, yes, no, no
(I'll tell you why)
Everything, everything, everything will be fine, yeah
(I'll tell you why)
Ooh-ooh, hoo, hoo, hoo
(I'll tell you why)
Woo-hoo, woo-hoo, don't wait on nobody
(I'll tell you why)
I said woo-hoo, woo-hoo, don't wait on nobody
(I'll tell you why)
I tell you, woo-hoo, woo-hoo, don't wait on nobody
(I'll tell you why)
