Doing well for the son of a Texas Legend. Old folks like me are starting to ask "Which one was better?" His Father's sword was words. James wields his instrument similarly. Watching him carve his legend.

HIs songwriting could be studied in creative writing classes as a lesson in using specific, concrete details. The specifics speak to the universal. What a great writer.

He also uses empty space incredibly - by that I mean where you would expect a line he leaves it empty. The chorus of Rubio and Carlos. My all time favorite of his for the imagery he narrates.
