Amazing! In Madagascar we consume them differently! We eat those like oysters 🦪, in the shell with just enough lemon or lime juice! The only difference with oysters is that you have to chew a lil bit instead of straight up swallowing!

It's amazing ho much effort and time they took to make this into sashimi while in my country we just wash and throw it into boiling water. I have a friend that underestimates sashimi saying that it is something easy to make and you don't even have to cook it. But after watching this video I'm sure he'll understand that making a sashimi require skills.

In El Salvador, these big ones we call "donkey hulls" have almost the same taste as the "curiles" and the "conchas", of the same species but smaller, they can be eaten directly from their shell, alone or with Salt, lemon, and tabasco, it's taste are metallic and sweet, delicious!!. Also prepare in cocktails with tomato, onion, radish, coriander finely chopped and seasoned with lemon juice, salt, Worcestershire suase and tabasco sause.

They're called Blood Clams at least to my knowledge that's the name used back home, but generally it's cautioned not to eat them certainly not eat them raw as they do tend to ingest a lot of bacteria and viruses (Hepatitis A and E, Typhoid, Dysentery). I mean you certainly CAN eat them, but it is a risk you're taking to eat them so it's just important to be wise about what you consume and to not consume blindly. It's also wise not to consume everything raw. Just some facts in case anyone get the chance to eat these so they know the risks involved.

wow..... giant sized blood cockles, also commonly known as "see harm" in Singapore..... challenging to eat it 100% raw because it has a strong metallic taste of blood.... we usually blanch them in the shell in a rolling boil for 10-30 seconds depending on your preference of doneness, then eat them with a spicy sambal belachan chilli sauce. Can be done as a hot plate or stir fried dish too, but by and large the simple blanch and sambal method seems to be the most popular method here.
