Cage: Run the two front legs through the dash down to the angled part of the floor in the foot area. Nothing sucks more than a cage behind the A-Pillar and inboard so you've gotta pull your knees into your chest to get out the car.

Coming along nicely, rear valance with the single exit exhaust looks really good, brilliant repair job. Welding the front panel came up well, Jay you've got more skill than you give yourself credit for 👍🏻

You can make dry ice with Co2 extinguisher. Stick a thick sock over the end, empty the extinguisher and break it up inside of the sock

Very nice work on the weld repairs. E30 pedals are in a funny position but you quickly get used to it. Dropping the column makes things feel way better and a bit less like driving a bus!

Loving it jay, Standard e30 shiz indeed, I chased rust on mine, cracked exhaust manifolds on the regular, coolant reservoir destroying themselves, weird misfires and revs all connected to the manifold somehow, oh and constantly getting pulled over as skinny white guys driving round Redditch in a E30 seemed to be a bit of a trigger for the police in the early 2000s

Knotted wire wheel on an angle grinder is great for sould deadening.

Getting rid of the idle control valve might help you with that rpm hang/slow returning to idle. I think the only thing you need is a remap (if the map is similar to ms43 ecu on M54 engines, it should be a 10min job for someone with the right software)

I don't know about Birmingham, but here in the States it's not too difficult to buy dry ice. A lot of larger grocery stores have it, it's just not on display you have to ask for it. I used to work at a place that made those 5lb bags of ice you can buy at the grocery store or liquor store and they also had dry ice for sale.

Jay, not sure if you have tried, but every time I've removed the sound deadening I've used an SDS drill on the hammer/chiselling setting with the bolster chisel bit. Makes short work of a tedious job, and I've always had minimal clean up after... although it can be a little hard on the ears!

You should really try some cold spray (würth etc). I didn't believe it myself at first, but tried some and worked like magic.

You can get dry ice delivered next day delivery apart from a monday as it would be sitting all weekend from the friday... just thought id say... even though its too late🤦♂️😂 but heat torch seemed to do the trick👌. Awesome car build and great vid

You can get dry ice delivered, no idea what the cost is though. I won mine in a truth telling contest with a guy at a local refrigeration place. Can confirm it makes the job a lot easier.

Next time, use a needle scaler attachment on a air hammer for sound deadening. Best decision ever. No more dry ice, or torches to get it up.

Got same engine conversion in my e21 … & being of similar age & hairstyle i also wanted to reduce the noise by adding silencers- but i have a selection of ecu of unknown spec . What/how is crackle map? I suspect i may have that .

Regarding your revs being slow to drop, that could just be due to the heavy factory flywheel, if it's still installed that is.
