Glad to see you back at it, after Mistress had the lime light for a bit! FWIW, I used Superior Axles 1-piece axles in my NT AMC 20 before swapping to wide track axles and then on to a Dana 44. Have a narrowed Dana 60 with disk brakes sitting on the shop floor, just waiting to get in there! Have fun!

I'll make a note of that Superior Axle and add it to my research. Need to make a decision soon to get them here. I want to get mine together with what I have and make any reasonable upgrade while it is out, but I can see after some time, wanting to swap and upgrade both axles. I will say it here publicly... That drive in your 6.0L CJ has been stuck in my mind and is one of the flames under my tail to get this thing back together. Tipping my hat to you John. Thanks!!!!! Mike

Nice to see you back at it Mike. I'm using an 8.8 Explorer limited slip axle from a late 90's rig. If you search the driver's door code, they came in a D2 (4.10) and a D4 (3.73), both limited slip......My 95 YJ has a stock 4.10 Dana 30 in the front and the Explorer axle in the back will match up fine. The Explorer rear axle is almost a perfect fit width wise.....a slight bit (inch or so) narrower

Hello Bob! I'm going to save this information in my notes. Down the road, I may do some axle swaps and this will be useful. Cheers to you Bob!
@bobmcelver1484

@@UCanDoIt2Mike Hey bud......yeah, the Explorer axle swap is a very popular one among the Jeep community. The Explorer "D2" door code will net you a limited slip 4.10 ratio, matching the standard Dana 30 front end....at least on mine anyway. It's a very simple (almost bolt in) swap, allowing you set your specific pinion angle before tacking the spring perches on. One company even makes an adapted emergency brake cable kit. The Ford 8.8 is bulletproof behind an LS swap with the X15 tranny.

@@bobmcelver1484 Disc Brakes kind of seals the deal as the best end-game. I believe, I am going to cleanup what I have to get this thing going. But I honestly think new Axles will be the first upgrade. That way I can enjoy it and begin obtaining/measuring/planning that swap. Right now my gearing is 3.54 and I am sure that I will need to change that. New Axles and gearing would be a great bundled upgrade project down the road. I have saved this information in my project notes and may hit you up with further questions and insight later. Thank yo very much! Mike
